47 code's stored and a towed in vehicle that quit on the customer. No communication with multiple module's. The headlights would just flash on and off and the dash would turn on and off by itself. Good times to be had but all in all we were able to get into it and narrow it down pretty quickly to a failed Drive train control module with 41k miles. Replaced the old one programmed the new one and the customer was off and running.

The time is here, next week we will be transitioning into our Diagnostic and Truck Center. Lots of moving going on...the four post that's there will be coming out in favor of a bigger two post lift and we'll be performing ADAS calibrations as well. We here at Oliverian Automotive were made aware earlier this week of the shortage of synthetic oils which, unfortunately, the industry is seeing today. Most after-market supply shops and dealerships are being faced with short or no supply in their New England warehouses. In addition, we have already seen prices increase, and we are expecting them to increase up to 30%.

We were pro-active first thing Monday morning and we have been able to increase our inventory to hopefully off set the initial impact of this shortage. We want to ensure our customers that we are here for them and hopefully Oliverian Automotive is in a position where this will not impact our level of service to our customers.

Even if the war with Iran ends tomorrow, we'll be feeling the impact at the l**e shop for quite some time.

This is why you should not guess when it comes to your vehicle. Instead, pay to have a qualified facility/individual that has solid testing and diagnostic skills look at your vehicle so wasteful money and part are not thrown at a problem. This GM vehicle with a 2.0 Turbo came in with new parts (new coils,spark plugs, a new Mass air flow sensor) this could not have been cheap and absolutely could have been avoided. We'll keep it simple so here it goes. We could see the issue was in Cylinder 2 and the misfire was not always constant but it was the only Cylinder in the PCM's history. We pull up a wiring diagram and proceed to test powers and grounds which test solid. Then with a scope we look for the control signal from the PCM to the coil and that's when we see an issue. The blue trace is cylinder two and the red trace is cylinder one. We should be seeing somewhere around a 5 volt square wave but as you can see on cylinder two we're seeing roughly half and it definitely is not a square wave. We reviewed technical service bulletins (TSB's) and found one where coolant or fluids enter the wiring harness and make their way to the pcm. Once we made our way to the PCM we found the issue. Now the TSB states to replace the PCM and corroded pins. We promptly got the customer involved and gave them some options. We all agreed to clean the pins on the PCM and harness to get them back on the road as time was of the importance. They know life expectancy is unknown but they wanted time to think how far they wanted to go as we really needed to try and find the reason it happened in the first place. Well once everything was cleaned up and reassembled the car ran great we put about twenty miles on it and released it back to the customer so they could decide what they wanted to do. The last picture is after the repair and the signals are where they should be.
