Working on an upgraded Glow Plug Controller that will FAAAARRR outlast even the original motorcraft ones. So please let me know:

Do you want it to cycle the plugs to keep them warm, or do you want it to hit hard once so the controller can last forever?

Also, how often do start and stop your engine?

I plan to have some sort of onboard visual health and error system for easier diagnostics as well. But it will take some time.

Dear whoever made the new starter relay I am using from Orielly. There is a special place reserved for you for selling me a relay that lacked an internal ground. Thanks to you, I got an amazing refresher on the starting circuitry in the truck. Thankfully, I had some help to troubleshoot the truck with me as I can't be at 2 places at once. I simply had to make a #$@&ing ground wire in the dark.

So with that, I am going to develop a new relay kit that can handle the same current, at like 1000V, so it should last nearly forever at 12V, and can be sourced fairly easily with mouser and digikey.

That being said, minus the BS that is the bolts on the power Master 9050, it now starts with ZERO glow plugs, it's ridiculous.

Hey Y'all. Some good news. I have officially moved over my loom and heatshrink to American made! I was using the original vendor for IDI Diesel out of China, but not anymore. It's been a 2 year effort to track down actually American made parts that weren't simply rebadged. I am also going to start offering custom color service for harnesses, with non-offered colors available upon request. As I get through these winter orders. I will also start focusing on the bricknose engine harnesses. They will start with 3D printed connectors with a 3+ year warranty, and an optional upgrade (and reasonably priced) to injection molded connectors as they are made available. The engine harness injection molded parts are going to be the most expensive thing to have made. With some molds exceeding $10k per connector and internal connector parts. So with that, it will take time, but as always, feel free to reach out with any updates.

Howdy Folks. Looks like the embargo on Rock Auto in Arizona isn't going to end anytime soon. So I am now going to sell some NOS Beru glow plugs I picked up. They are 75$ for a set, and like our new house brand controller, come with a 6 month warranty! No more messing with O'Reilly and Motorcraft. Just me! The prices have thus gone down for both of these items. And even steeper discounts when bought with other harnesses. Get them while you can. I should have plenty for this winter for everyone, but I will have to try and source zd29s again when I run out (it will be expensive no matter how I approach it at that point). Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Update on shipping and production.

"Buy a 2007-2009 Toyota Camry" they said, "get a manual" they said, "it's just breaking in at 135k miles" they said. "You can focus on your business with a reliable car and put more time into the truck" they said. One day, I got a misfire on cylinder 3. Fast forward to last week after getting parts a couple days prior, it misfires more often, and now I got bubbles coming from the radiator. Now I have a dead Camry, and a truck I am trying to keep running as a daily when it's 105+ outside. This has halted production as I have been trying to have a running daily. As you all may know, I do this after my normal 9-5. I spend my evenings trying to crank parts, so stuff like this halts progress and even my rest. My IDI is running now with a sticky starter, waiting on more parts to install on glowing hot asphalt.

Now, where is this coolant leak coming from.... I only resealed the engine 5 years ago....

Cars are a labor of love and dedication, but this has been horrible. Those who can keep these on the road as a daily are heroes. Please send some of that luck my way.

Look what I found when I went to visit my friend Masaharu Tsukihara
The IDI is still alive and kicking all over the world. This one has been in the original family since it was bought new from Canada, and lives in the outskirts of Suburban Osaka, Japan. It been through the typical cracked cylinder wall, aging wiring, aging rubber and plastic. But with Masaharu's devotion, she is alive and kicking today. She even still passes the daunting Shaken (brutally stringent yearly inspection). Rocking mickey Thompsons and being a certified camping UNIT, she continues to serve her original family to this day. Masaharu embodies the true American gear head spirit (especially with the inventory of spare parts he keeps around 😂).

Thank you Masaharu for having my father and I come over to look at your wonderful van, and for being a fantastic host.

Anytime I travel, I am always going to be looking out for these legendary vehicles hiding in plain sight. If anyone in these groups has their IDIs hiding in unexpected places, feel free to share your story.
