Tony's knows amnesia? Waiting for parts for 6 days on this Chrysler van AC project sucked, but it happens. Then the parts arrive, all the parts are in order, but its been 6 days and I have worked on many vehicles and now its the next week. Yep, it takes a moment. After getting reacquainted with this project it was off to the races and reassembly started. AC projects can be crazy, so many screws and little plastic parts. Its a job with many ways to go wrong. Tony's knows Nissan heater hoses. Nissan heater hoses from 2006 to 2012 on the Xterra and Pathfinder would fail like the one in the image. The plastic would crack "just a little" and coolant crust will play peek a boo at the crack. This is the time to replace both hoses. Nissan cooling system plastics become brittle as they age. A hose that looks like this is ready to fail. A failure will lead to an over heated engine that may lead to an engine replacement. Tony's knows fuel pumps. Every month we replace many dead fuel pumps. Failed motor brushes, leaks from plastic pipes and locked up motors are the most common failures. Many modern vehicles include the fuel filter inside the fuel pump housings. Fuel pressure must be stable and at the rated pressure for the engine to run correctly. Low fuel pressure can cause a check engine light and poor driving performance. Fuel pumps rarely give any warning that they are going to fail, they just fail. The engine will crank, but not start. The average life of a electric fuel pump is about 6 to 10 years. I have seen pumps go bad earlier than 6 years and I have see some as old as 20+ years. When they go bad you replace them. Tony's knows AC cabin filters... We replace many cabin filters each month. This filter was restricting the air flow out of the duct. The other thing the filter does is it keep your evaporator core clear of pet hair or other gunk that gets ingested into the blower during AC operation. Tony's knows coolant leaks... The white crust in the images is engine coolant leaking at a water pump fl**ge. Modern gaskets, O-rings and silicone sealants do not last forever. Some gaskets fail earlier than they should. O-rings shrink & leak, silicone will harden & leak and regular gaskets are effected by heat expansion and age. We look for the little issues like the one in the image at every oil change interval. By catching a leaky condition early, we can prevent a breakdown on the road. A loss of coolant will lead to an over heated engine and a very expensive repair. The same thing can be said for engine oil, and transmission fluid leaks. Fix the leaks to prevent breakdowns. Tony's knows worn out tires! When was the last time you had your tires checked? We do a tire inspection and rotation with every full service oil change. This was found on a Friday oil change, the client was going to Flagstaff to visit friends. We installed 2 tires and changed the oil. Plus some new wiper blades. Tony's knows old classics. 1954 Chevy Belair, its clean, almost rust free, but has been sitting for a long time... After some basic electrical triage to get the motor to crank, and produce spark. I ran the engine on propane for about 15 to 20 seconds. It was a bit noisy but I wanted to see if it had oil pressure, it did. Next up, an engine compression test. So the engine is low on compression in cylinder 5 @ 95 psi. In my opinion we need to get it running officially on fuel so the compression test can be done again with a warm engine. The fuel pump is dead, the tank is contaminated, the carb does not feed any fuel. The client has a first level estimate to get the engine running so the car can be driven for the second part of the inspections. Tony's Service Center Phoenix, Arizona 85016

Tony's knows cable connections. If the smoke comes out at a cable eyelet and the retainer is tight, you have high resistance and gunk at that connection point. The cable was tight, but the eye of the cable was blackened with gunk and grime. Once cleaned up, I could do a compression test on the engine. Tony's Service Center Phoenix, Arizona 85016

Tony's knows dirty fuel filters. 92 Nissan, driving poorly, low fuel pressure. This filter was so dirty! After replacement the car ran normal again. This filter was not an OE original, but it was very old looking. Tony's Service Center Phoenix, Arizona 85016
