This CAT 349F had a stuck quick coupler with grapple on the machine and they needed to switch to a bucket. After confirming that the hydraulics were functioning properly and that there was a mechanical stall on the coupler itself I needed to remove the attachment and the top cover for further inspection. After removing the caps on the locking spring wedge I saw that the springs were completely blown apart and the bolts holding the wedge in were cross threaded 3/4 of the way in causing the cylinder to stall since the front lock was jammed After failing to extract bolts I drilled out and installed helicoils and reassembled and welded the wedge in for further support. Good as new

Today’s repair. Customer CAT 914k in derate with high soot load and active fault for mass air flow sensor. Upon inspection I saw that a wire was ripped out of the pigtail and the connector was busted. Replaced pigtail with new and put through two active regenerations to get soot load back to normal and out of derate
