Last week, the Philadelphia Department of Commerce hosted its 2nd Annual Business Expo & Summit at La Salle University, bringing together business owners from across Philadelphia to connect with organizations dedicated to supporting local economic growth.

PIDC was proud to participate and share how we drive growth across every corner of the city through our business financing, support services, and real estate solutions.

PIDC President Jodie Harris also joined the plenary panel, “Driving Growth Through Leadership,” moderated by Bryan Smith, alongside Tom Dowling and Will Gonzalez. The conversation focused on the continued growth of Philadelphia’s business community and the important role organizations like PIDC play in supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses citywide.

Additionally, PIDC’s Senior Business Development Manager Camille Simpkins emceed the event and hosted a Capital Workshop, where attendees learned more about accessing funding opportunities and resources to help grow and sustain their businesses.

We were excited to meet and connect with hundreds of passionate and driven business owners who are helping shape the future of Philadelphia’s economy. The energy and innovation in the room was inspiring, and we look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of businesses across the city.

Thank you to the City of Philadelphia Government for the opportunity to be part of such an impactful event.

Last month, PIDC was proud to attend the Women’s Leadership Initiative Local Microbusiness Fair presented by ULI Philadelphia, a celebration of the entrepreneurs and small business owners driving creativity and growth across our city.

Angie Fredrickson, who serves as Co-Chair of ULI Philadelphia’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, joined Ricky Huynh and Maryann McCann in representing PIDC at the event. Together, they connected with local founders, explored a wide range of microbusinesses, and engaged in conversations about access to opportunity, visibility, and support for small businesses across Philadelphia.

We’re grateful to Angie and ULI Philadelphia’s Women’s Leadership Initiative for creating space to uplift and spotlight local entrepreneurs, and for fostering meaningful connections across our business community.

It’s — a time to recognize the investments, partnerships, and projects that help communities grow and thrive.

Robust federal investment doesn’t just fund projects — it helps unlock private-sector capital, expand opportunity, and accelerate growth in communities across the country.

At PIDC, we know firsthand how public investment can help catalyze private development, support business growth, and strengthen Philadelphia’s economic future. Tools like financing authorities, credit support, and public-private partnerships help make transformative projects possible while extending impact to more neighborhoods and communities.

Public and private together: that’s how we build smarter, faster, and stronger infrastructure for Philadelphia.
