Schultz Garage Inc. hopes everyone is having a fantastic Friday! Our shop will be completely CLOSED for Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th) to honor our fallen military soldiers. Hours will resume as usual on Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today’s trivia question asks about vehicle production quantity across the states. Some answers may be more obvious than others. Let’s see how many Eric gets right! Today’s answers:

Michigan-Anchored by Ford, General Motors and Stellantis, Michigan is certainly the least surprising entry on this list. Currently, Michigan is responsible for 19% of all US auto production. A far cry from decades before.

Ohio- Hail the Buckeye pride! Ohio is THE hub ( 😉 ) for Honda in the United States. With plants in Marysville and Liberty, Detroit’s rust belt neighbor is building a different name for themselves than Michigan, but still a significant one nonetheless.

Kentucky- Toyota and Ford share the primary market in Kentucky. Ford’s operations include passenger vehicles and their popular heavy-duty trucks. Georgetown KY is home to the largest Toyota factory in the world. Some of Toyota’s most popular labels (Camry, RAV4) are produced at this plant. With 444,414 vehicles produced in 2025 at the Georgetown factory alone, horses aren’t the only option for riding in Kentucky! 😉🐎

Indiana- Toyota, Subaru and Honda all take up operations here, and model production is often varied making Indiana a diverse location for auto manufacturing.

South Carolina- Bless their hearts! South Carolina just barely cracks the top 5. With Volvo in Ridgeville and a massive BMW plant in Spartanburg, the market emphasis is German luxury. As BMW is a dominant automotive exporter, American born enthusiasts of these vehicles best say “Auf Wiedersehn,” as most of what’s produced at the plants doesn’t stay in the country.
