Mayday is very sad today as he visits Coronet Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat for the final time as they close their doors today after being in Peru for fifty plus years. Coronet and the Bill Walsh Automotive Group has been a great friend of Illinois Valley Animal Rescue AKA IVAR. They have been tremendous friends and supporters of IVAR over the years and will greatly be missed by our community.

Coronet Dodge started at 802 First Street in LaSalle in 1971 and then in 1976 moved to its current location on Rt 251 across from Peru Mall. Thomas P Walsh Jr (Bill Walsh Sr’s father) started what would become the Bill Walsh Automotive Group with Sierra Dodge in Ottawa on February 5, 1959. After a long, proud history in LaSalle / Peru, we have made the very challenging decision to close Coronet due to demands from the manufacturers which would have made it difficult to continue our fair pricing philosophy and culture we’ve maintained for years.

Operations will cease on February 28, 2025.

Customers will be able to service their Coronet Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram and pre-owned vehicles at Sierra Motors in Ottawa. We will be communicating with our Mitsubishi and Fiat customers on arrangements we have made for their service and parts needs.

We are all grateful for the LaSalle / Peru community which has been our home for 54 years. We are offering all of the employees, whom have become trusted friends and advisors to our countless customers, positions throughout the Bill Walsh Automotive Group in Ottawa and Streator. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our other dealerships where you will experience the same fast, fun and friendly service and sales experience you enjoyed at Coronet.
