🚨 **CONSUMER ALERT – ADAS SAFETY PARTS** 🚨
PLEASE SHARE, IT JUST MIGHT SAVE A LIFE
This is something every vehicle owner needs to see and understand.
A **major national insurance carrier** is currently attempting to source **used/salvage ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) components** — like radar sensors used for adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance — and install them back onto customer vehicles.
📸 **The attached photo shows the actual total-loss salvage vehicle these “replacement” components are coming from.**
Take a close look:
* Severe structural damage
* Front-end impact affecting sensor mounting areas
* Unknown pre-loss calibration condition
* Components removed from a vehicle deemed unsafe to repair
❗ Here’s the concern:
ADAS systems are **precision safety equipment**. These components rely on:
✅ Exact mounting locations
✅ Undamaged brackets and structure
✅ Precise calibration tolerances measured in millimeters
When a sensor comes off a heavily damaged, total-loss vehicle, there is **no guarantee**:
* The sensor is still within manufacturer tolerances
* Internal components were not compromised
* The system will perform correctly in a future emergency situation
🚫 These are not cosmetic parts. These are **life-safety systems**.
💡 At Byrd’s Body Shop, we follow **OEM repair procedures** — period.
If the manufacturer requires new components or cannot validate reuse, we will not install salvage ADAS parts just to meet an insurance cost target.
👉 **Consumers have the right to:**
* Safe, proper repairs
* OEM-compliant parts and procedures
* Full transparency in the repair process
If your insurance company suggests using recycled or salvage ADAS components, **ask questions**:
🔹 What does the manufacturer require?
🔹 Can this part be safely reused?
🔹 Will it calibrate properly and function as designed?
Your safety is not negotiable.
