This is the car that proved depreciation has a floor.

A Lexus LFA in 2012: $375,000. By 2013 it had dropped to $320,000. A carbon fibre supercar with a naturally aspirated V10 co-developed with Yamaha, and a hand-built production process so intensive Toyota reportedly took a decade and a nine-figure sum just to develop it.

Then the floor arrived.

Today a clean LFA is comfortably over $1,000,000.

Nobody will ever build a car like it again. Not because they can't engineer it, but because the economics no longer make sense. Toyota reportedly lost money on every single one sold, taking two months to hand-build each car. That number alone makes it un-repeatable.

A car that loses its maker money to build is a car the market eventually has to reprice. It just took over a decade for everyone else to notice.
