RV MAINTENANCE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE HARD OR EXPENSIVE!

Here's a simple example of something many RV owners can learn to do themselves.

On this shorter RV, I noticed screw heads starting to show through the self-leveling roof caulk beside a skylight.

I washed the roof, let it dry, and came back with fresh self-leveling caulk.

4 tubes of caulk. About 2 hours of my time. Problem fixed.

My cost on the caulk is about $9 a tube when I buy 24 at a time. Retail can be $14+ a tube, and you can find it online for around $10 a tube.

Now think about paying a service center.

With labor rates around $150–$200 an hour, a small maintenance job can turn into a $600+ bill pretty quickly.

And that's not even counting your time getting the RV ready, driving it to the shop, dropping it off, and making another trip to pick it up.

My goal with these videos is to show RV owners that RV maintenance doesn't have to be a mystery.

There are plenty of things you can learn to inspect and maintain yourself.

Save money. Save time. Take care of your RV. And most importantly—get out there and ENJOY IT!

RV WON’T START WHEN HOT — A $1,300 RELAY BOX WASN’T THE PROBLEM!

This Class A gas motorhome came in with an intermittent starting problem. It would normally start when cold, but after getting hot, it sometimes wouldn't start — and the dash would lose power.

Because the symptoms pointed toward the main battery disconnect/relay box, that component was considered as a possible cause. Replacing it could have cost roughly $1,300.

Rather than replace an expensive part without confirming the problem, I wanted to diagnose the electrical system first.

I found loose battery connections, including a loose positive terminal and power wire. After cleaning and tightening those connections, I also discovered a problem with the negative-side connection.

Once everything was properly cleaned, positioned and tightened, the RV had power at the relay box, power at the dash, and — most importantly — it started.

But I didn't stop there.

I started the RV repeatedly throughout the day, allowing it to get hot, shutting it down and restarting it to make sure the problem was actually fixed.

That's what proper RV diagnosis is about: find the problem before replacing expensive parts.

In this case, what could have become a $1,300 repair turned out to be a battery connection problem.

In the video I show exactly what I found, how I cleaned the battery terminals, why terminal positioning matters, and how I verified the repair.

Honestly, it's hard to believe.

Before any coach leaves our lot, a cold tire pressure check is an absolute must. In this quick video, Michael breaks down a few key tire safety tips that every RV owner should keep in mind:

👉 Temperature Matters: Setting pressures on an 85° day when a 95° heatwave is coming? You need to adjust your target cold pressure to account for ambient temperature spikes.
👉 Safety Red Flag: If your tire's MAX PSI rating is lower than the Ford door jamb recommendation, you likely have the wrong tires installed—a major safety hazard!
👉 Valve Stem Extenders: Convenient? Yes. But braided line extenders are often the #1 culprit for slow leaks. If a tire is losing air, removing these is usually the fix.

Checking your tires before heading out on the open road can save you from a major headache down the line.

Drove From Tennessee to V2GRV for RV Service — Now He’s Headed to Atlanta!

2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 4x4 — $17,499

Here’s a quick 1-minute look at my dad’s personal Silverado.

Very clean. Rust-free. Well kept. 5.3L V8. 4x4.

FREE RV A/C Maintenance Tip — Check Those Filters!

48° Air From Your RV A/C Sounds Great… But Is It?

When I’m prepping an RV for sale at V2GRV, rarely are two RVs exactly the same. But every now and then, I find a simple, FREE maintenance item that can help just about any RV owner.

Today it was these dirty, reusable roof A/C filters.

Before I pulled the filters, I was getting air around 48°F coming out of the A/C. That might sound fantastic, but colder isn't always better when airflow is restricted.

An RV air conditioner needs good airflow AND a proper temperature drop. With those dirty filters restricting the air, the system wasn't moving the amount of air it should.

After removing the filters, the return air was around 70–71°F, and the air coming out was 53–54°F — a 16–17° temperature difference, which is right around what we're looking for.

The best part? This maintenance costs nothing.

Pull those reusable filters, rinse them clean, let them dry completely, and put them back.

Better airflow can help your RV A/C operate more efficiently, cool the RV properly, and you're not breathing all that dirt and dust.
