Okay everyone! I have something I've been wanting to share, but have had to hold off until it was set in stone.

Starting March of this year I am cutting back my detailing to 2-3 days per week while I transition my business into a new market which is paintless dent repair. I will absolutely still be detailing and will always offer detail services, but my hours and days available for detailing will be limited and unfortunately I know this means I'll be limiting my customer base in that sense as far as detailing goes but even if thats the case I hope to see you back if you ever have any paintless dent repair needs.

My focus for the detail side of things is to have a large majority of my customers on a maintenance program so I can keep more of a strict schedule to allow time for the new service. I'll still be able to get to 1-off or emergency type detail services but would require some extra flexibility and it might be further out on the schedule than I've been able to work out in the past. If you're interested in my maintenance detail packages send me a message and I'll send the service information and price list. Getting on a maintenance plan is a great option to avoid scheduling delays that may come with my limited schedule for detailing.

As for the paintless dent repair, keep your eyes open for upcoming posts! I can't wait to offer this to the community who helped me get my business started and now take the leap into other markets! I'm hoping to be offering this new service in full capacity by July-August of this year but I still have some training left to go which requires me to leave a week at a time and I'm going to need at least 8 full weeks of training to offer this professionally. Therefore, I might be harder to catch at my shop and will be on more of a "by appointment" basis until I get everything completely transitioned, but I'll be back at my shop full time sometime this summer! So if you see my shop closed down for a week or even two at a time in the near future don't worry! It's all part of my next chapter!

And there will be a slight name change coming up and I'll have you all vote on that to help me decide which route to go but "Mudgett's" will always remain a part of the name 🤙

Be extra careful when removing snow and ice from your vehicle's exterior whether it be paint, glass or trim. There's a layer of dirt, rocks and etc. under that ice on your vehicle and digging that against your glass with a scraper or running a brush on your paint to sweep off snow can cause scratching that you may not notice at first and then one sunny day BAM you'll notice some "new" scratching. Mostly, I see this on windshields from scrapers, but I saw at least 3 people sweeping their cars paint with brooms on my way to the shop this morning, and it gives me the heebie-jeebies but to each their own lol 🤣 MOST importantly drive safe 🤙

In a 36-hour span, I worked over 30 of those hours 🤟 I had a full schedule last week but lost a work day with the flu running through our family and then was asked to fit in a couple extra services for a cool gig so I stayed late and made it happen 🤙 worked at my shop until 2:00am one morning and had my keys in my shop door at 6:13am the next morning for another long day! I was beyond exhausted, but the cars looked good! Here's a few of the vehicles I worked on in those 36 hours 🤙

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.

You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All the while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.
It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.

Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

And know that 2024 prices are not 2025 prices.
