These may not look like much in the photos but what an improvement they are for the two South classrooms. If you have ever been in the two South classrooms in hot weather you know well that the old window units we had (manufactured sometime in the Carter administration) just couldn't quite keep up. Then in the cold weather the gas space heaters struggled as well.

Well, we have moved into the 21st century with a new mini-split AC and Heat pump in each classroom. These will be quieter, more efficient and will more evenly heat or cool the room. Thank you to all who have donated to the community center over the last year. This is what your money does to help keep this building viable for our Bluegrassers and folks that rent the building for family reunions and other functions.

"Thank You" again to everyone who contributes financially to the upkeep on this historic building.

Last Saturday, August22, the Pearl Community Center hosted a family game night. This is what community looks like, just like it did 50 years ago. We have a strong small community and when we get together like this it reinforces what a great thing we have here. Young and old alike were engaged and enjoying the atmosphere.

Hot dogs and drinks were provided by the BOD and attendees brought sides and desserts. There was so much delicious food! Then the games began and there was some great competitions going. It's fun to so who has that competitive streak come out!

We hope to see y’all at our next Family Game Night!

Please see if you recognize this pup. We need to get him back with his people.

“There’s no place like Pearl!”, it’s been said many times but it was never truer than the 4th of July at the Pearl Community Center for the Pearl Bluegrass Jam and Stage Show. This event has been a constant in the community since 1997 (with the exception of 2020) and is an incredible legacy for our small community and the folks that continue to keep this tradition alive.

We would like to give a big shout out and “Thank you!” to our local Sorry Boys BBQ Texas for making our community fish fry a huge success! Many locals and visitors turned out to support the community center and enjoyed a delicious fish fry and the regular fare served in our kitchen.

Thank you to everyone who worked through the week to put on this wonderful 4th of July event including Bard Chafin who came over early Saturday morning to troubleshoot a problem AC unit and got us up and running just in time to get the auditorium nice and cool for our stage show.

The Pearl Community Center is run by a Board of Directors made up of local residents who love Pearl and do their best to care for the community center. While they are the structure of what goes on at the PCC, they are helped by many other people in our community and many who visit Pearl. Over the past year we have been blessed by so many wonderful volunteers and generous donors who continue to support the community center and the growth of our community.

We love volunteers and we can always use more help to lighten the load on our current workers. Please never underestimate how volunteering jut one or two days a year could bless our community and yourself. If you would love to volunteer, please reach out to us. We would love to get to know you and be blessed by your presence.

We will post a wrap up of yesterday's Pearl Bluegrass Jam and Stage show but for today I'm just enjoying the moment reflecting on the great day we had.

The strongest emotion I have is for all the people that chipped in to make the day a success. I can't even remember everyone but all the Pearl Community Center, Texas board members and folks in the Pearl community busting their buns not just yesterday but the whole week leading up to the event. Gotta get the food prepped, gotta get the building decorated, gotta get the A/C fixed 😆, you name they were on it.

All the folks that saw a need for help and jumped in to assist, Rachel Hadsall Bates, Anji Pearl Day, Jeffrey White, Morrison and her husband for dumping trash cans. I'm sure I'm missing some others.

The musicians that got on stage and really entertained the crowd, Angela Beaubouef and Glen Beaubouef, Glenda Martin, Lee Billeck, Kennedy Berry, Flanagan, David Langehennig, Kevin Juillard and anyone else I'm missing. The music was on point the whole day and they gave it their all on stage.

Of course, I can't forget our loveable Christian Mulvey! Runnig around taking photos, shooting video, even got up on stage and ripped an awesome harmonica lead break during "Your Love is Like a Flower".

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, a million times "Thank you". I get a lump in my throat thinking about all those that share a love for Pearl, the bluegrass community and each other and give to help others feel the vibe that this place has. We are proud to carry the moniker of "The mother church of Texas Bluegrass".
