Replacing a Door on a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 — It’s More Than Just Bolting On a New Door

Replacing a damaged door on a 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 may sound straightforward, but doing it correctly requires much more than simply installing a new door.

The new door must be properly fitted and aligned, all moldings, glass, handles, wiring and electronics must be transferred or replaced, and the vehicle’s safety and electronic systems must be checked after the repair.

But on this particular IONIQ 5, one of the biggest challenges is the Matte Gray factory finish.

Matte paint requires a completely different refinishing process than conventional glossy paint. You cannot simply buff or polish away imperfections afterward—the color, texture and sheen have to be right when the paint is applied. Even a small difference in the matte finish can make a newly painted door stand out from the rest of the vehicle.
