Sometimes you can guess what’s wrong with a vehicle and get it right. Other times you’re not so lucky. With parts getting hard to come by and getting more expensive, it’s important to diagnose the cause of an issue.
Here we have an older GM diesel, the now antiquated 6.5L with a stalling issue. With a vehicle that’s 27 years old and over 200k miles, there are several things that can cause this now. With modern testing equipment, the cause of the stalling can be found. In this case the equipment captured the fuel driver module stop working. The module stopped turning on the fuel injector and stopped sending a signal to the pcm while the pcm continued to send a command signal. The power and ground was monitored for changes, and no changes happened when the module stopped working.
