A customer recently came into the shop convinced they had a nail in their tire. They were already bracing themselves for the cost of a patch, a plug, or worse—a brand new tire.

Our technician got the car on the lift, pulled the tire off, and took a close look.

Turns out, it wasn't a nail at all. It was just a wedged-in pebble making a tapping noise against the pavement.

A corporate chain or a pushy dealership might have tried to find something wrong to justify a bill. We just popped the pebble out, checked the tire pressure, vacuumed the gravel out of the driver's floorboard while we were at it, and sent them on their way with a wave, a thank you and a smile. Cost: $0.
