The Annual Saint Clair Car Cruise was one of the coolest car events that we have ever been to!
Hats off to the coordinators- this event was everything that small town America should be! We haven't felt such a sense of community in a very long time. It seemed as though all of Saint Clair and much of Schuylkill County was out enjoying the afternoon and evening. Everything for the event appeared to happen seamlessly, from line up, to parade of cars, to judging, and then awards.
The Saint Clair Police Force was tremendously impressive. They were welcoming to residents and visitors alike, getting into the spirit of the day by leading the cruise and even encouraging "smokey burnouts" (kept under control of course). It was something both Bill and I mentioned to each other throughout the night and a very refreshing thing to see.
We so enjoyed the car community, hearing great stories about how owners came by their cool cars. From the gentleman who lost his wife, moved to Schuylkill County to be close to his son, and then bought a beautiful Plymouth that they enjoy together, to the gentleman who was driving his Mom's (original owner) 70's Camaro, (he had me at Mom's Camaro) and showed us the picture to prove it (also Silas' favorite because he did a fantastic burnout on request)--It was inspiring to see ladies and gentlemen of all ages come together.
Bill had the difficult job of selecting the Best of Show trophy winner and boy was it a hard decision! In the end the shoebox BelAir had it.
Thank you Cruise coordinators for allowing us to be a part of your event. We made memories that we will revisit through the year as we look forward to next years event!
