🏁 OFFICIAL RULING – POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP 🏁
After reviewing Sunday’s events and speaking with our track officials, we have reached a final decision regarding the points championship.
Sunday was a chaotic day, and with everything taking place while we were still trying to complete the remaining races, we wanted to take the time to review the situation carefully before making an official ruling.
After discussing the incident with our officials, we determined that the #98 car was involved in a wreck coming out of Turn 4 on the final lap, approaching the checkered flag.
However, there is another factor that must be considered when determining the official finishing order.
Although the #98 car was involved in the incident, the vehicle was still operational and capable of moving under its own power. The #98 was able to drive through the pits and return to his trailer.
The determining factor in this decision is that the #98 car never crossed the start/finish line to complete Lap 15.
Because Lap 15 was not completed by the #98, the #20 car will officially finish ahead of the #98 in the points championship standings.
We fully understand that the #98 was wrecked through no fault of his own, which is why the #43 received a penalty for rough driving. However, we must also consider the fact that the #98 did not cross the finish line to complete the race.
We understand this is a difficult decision, especially with a points championship on the line. We know both drivers worked hard all season, and we respect the time, money, and dedication they have put into racing.
This was not a decision we took lightly. Our goal is to make the fairest ruling possible based on the circumstances and the information provided by our officials.
We understand that not everyone will agree with this decision, but we ask that everyone respect the ruling and the people involved.
This is the final official ruling from Rockcastle Speedway regarding the points championship.
