Please share or forward this email from the DMV. You don't have to attend the Oregon Area Driving School to be able to use this Grant.
The Driver Education Grant program will launch on April 13th at 9:00AM. Students and/or parents may visit us at Wisconsin Department of Transportation Driver Education Grant Program to apply.

Income-eligible students will be able to take classroom and/or behind-the-wheel training from accredited schools like yours. The process is the same as previous releases. The student will enroll, and DMV will provide those eligible with coupons to present to authorized Driver Training schools. Those schools enrolled as a WisDOT vendor will be reimbursed for their training provided.

If students apply but are not accepted for a grant this quarter, they can visit our notification list to be notified when the grant will be available again the next quarter. The notification list will be available when the grant is not.

If you are not enrolled in the Driver Education Grant program, unsure of your status or have any other additional questions, please reach out to us at: [email protected]

Thank you,

The Oregon Area Driving School would like to share this reminder from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Please share this reminder so we can get this notice out to all students.

Reminder: Our next Driver Education Grant release will be January 20th, 2026. We would like to follow up with some simple tips & reminders when redeeming coupons.

Tips for successful reimbursement:

Student information entered in DEC must match the student information entered into the application exactly, date of birth, middle name, last name(s). If any part is hyphened, include this within DEC. We suggest asking students to forward the confirmation email because the PDF that is attached includes the student information.
When entering students into DEC, ensure no additional spaces or characters are entered into the fields. (especially AFTER you copy/paste the coupons into the fields).
After you have entered a coupon, tab or click out of the coupon field before hitting submit. This will ensure a green check mark and reimbursement amount populates. (If you see a price discrepancy, please do not redeem the coupon and contact us for a fee change)
If you are entering both classroom and behind the wheel courses, please enter and submit one at a time. Coupons will only redeem in the course 1 field.
Classroom course must be entered BEFORE behind the wheel if you are redeeming both. If behind the wheel is redeemed first, the classroom coupon will automatically cancel.

Reminders:

The grant program is not to be used as a refund program. If the student has made partial payments, down payments or has a balance due, a refund will not be issued in place of payment from the grant.
DMV will continue auditing grant recipients of the grant and driver training schools at random. This ensures that funds are going to students and families that are qualified to receive them, and fees remain the same for grant vs non grant students.

If you are currently enrolled to receive driver education grant funding, there are no additional steps needed to be able to redeem coupons under the new funding.

If you are not enrolled in the driver education grant program, unsure of your status or have any other additional questions, please reach out to us at: [email protected]

As our valued partner, Wisconsin DMV will continue to provide you with updates as soon as they become available.

Thank you,

Just a reminder to young drivers and parents of young drivers who are experiencing winter road conditions for the first time. Students take your time on the roads, the conditions can turn bad in a hurry. All it takes is one slippery spot on what seems to be good road conditions. Increase your following distance and increase your stopping distance. Parents think back on how much actual winter driving experience your young driver has. You might want to watch them carefully until they get comfortable driving in winter conditions. Please share this so we can spread the word to all young drivers, not just former students of the Oregon Area Driving School. Be safe out there.

This morning, I was driving with two students heading towards the roundabouts at the north end of Oregon. We were moving at 35 mph in a 35 mph speed zone, and we had a car tailgating us. We wanted to get into the left lane to go through the roundabout. My student turned on her left blinker approximately 70 feet before the left lane opened up to communicate early that she was moving over because the car behind us was really close. As soon as she started to move over, the car behind her suddenly moved to the left in the gore zone (solid white line) and proceeded to pass her illegally. Then, as she recovered from that scare, she turned her left blinker on again to move to the left lane. And another car behind her proceeded to suddenly switch lanes and pass her on the left when she clearly had her blinker on early enough. So there was a positive to come out of this incident; she learned never to trust other drivers. This student was correctly navigating the roundabout. Those drivers were driving recklessly.
Remember the speed through the roundabout is 15 mph, NOT 35 mph, so pay attention. If you're in such a hurry, get up earlier and leave earlier.
You passed a driver's education car that clearly had the turn signal on. Help us to help the students learn how to drive. The cars are very well identified with student driver stickers.

The Oregon Area Driving School has a few openings for the online courses in January and February. We will have more openings in March, April, May, and June. Summer class registration will be opening up soon.
Students can get their temporary license/permit at 15 years old. Therefore, they can start the course at 14 years and 10 months. It is not required that the student get their permit at 15, however it is possible if a parent agrees. The more time they have to practice is better for their confidence level. Plan ahead to register your student soon after they turn 14 for a course start date closer to their birthday.
If you have any questions email us at [email protected] or go to our website

Take the driver education course in-person or online and then complete behind-the-wheel driving lessons at our driving school in Oregon.
