Orchard Park Collision, Inc

Orchard Park Collision, Inc Orchard Park Collision provides the best collision restorations and paint work in the area.

We offer a complete spectrum of automotive care, ranging from New York State vehicle inspections and routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics and repairs. Orchard Park Collision was founded in 1984 by Peter Bruin, with the original intent of providing only collision and restoration services. As the shop's reputation spread, Bruin expanded his spectrum of services to include mechanical repairs,

while maintaining his core values of family, integrity and excellence. In 2014 - after three full decades at the helm - Bruin turned over leadership of the shop to his nephew, Jack de Nijs, and his nephew's son, Jeff de Nijs. Today's Orchard Park Collision is different from Bruin's vision in some ways. It is a highly adaptable, efficient organization that keeps pace with the exponential changes in the automotive industry that Bruin couldn't possibly have foreseen. What hasn't changed - and will never change - is our commitment to Bruin's core values of of family, integrity and excellence.

April is Distracted Driving Month. According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Association, there are three forms of driver distraction:

Visual — taking your eyes off the road.
Manual — taking your hands off the wheel.
Cognitive — taking your mind off what you are doing.

In the coming weeks, we'll post more on how to stay better focused behind the wheel.

According to a recent survey by Allstate Insurance, two-thirds of Americans consider themselves to be above-average drivers. How can you objectively tell if you or your friends are as skilled behind the wheel as you think? Check this link:

It's April Fools Day, and while you'll see no tricks from us, we'd like to highlight one of the best April Fools gags ever: on this date in 1970, American Motors introduced the Gremlin. While the model would eventually provide one of the finest frames for hot rodding, a Gremlin off the assembly line wasn't nearly as impressive.

The AMC Gremlin was released on April 1, 1970. The car may look like a joke, but it was all business for AMC.

They say there are only two seasons in Western New York: winter and construction. Now that winter is (hopefully) over, we can expect road repair to begin in earnest. Since construction delays can lead to auto collisions, we’ve put together a quick list of tips that will help keep you and your family safe when you see those orange, diamond-shaped signs on the roadside.

1. Slow down and keep driving slowly through the construction zone, even if you don’t see anyone working. There’s a chance you might round a curve or reach the crest of a hill and suddenly see workers and heavy equipment, and having the extra time to react can help prevent an accident. You might also find yourself running across a police officer using radar for speed enforcement (remember that, in New York, speeding fines are doubled in construction zones).

2. Avoid distracted driving. If you’re distracted – by your phone, your car radio, or anything else – there is a chance you might not see directions from flaggers, unpredictable actions from other drivers, or even road hazards that you wouldn’t drive on, like fresh asphalt or cement. The best way to avoid becoming someone’s meme photo is to put down the phone and turn off the radio, while watching the road and your mirrors.

3. Leave extra space between your car and other cars; two or even three car lengths should be the minimum. The most common form of accident in construction zones is a rear-end collision, and you can greatly reduce your risk by leaving extra space.

4. Be patient. Nobody likes waiting, but some folks approach construction zones as if the workers are deliberately trying to inconvenience them. First, remember that the purpose of road work is to keep everyone safe. Secondly, be aware that impatience and frustration can make people drive more dangerously, so be extra careful about the actions of other drivers.

We’ve posted some suggestions about getting your car ready for spring, covering the exterior and some mechanical concerns. We haven’t talked about getting your vehicle’s interior ready for spring, which is especially important if you plan to sell or trade it in on a later date.

First, give the interior a thorough cleaning – vacuum the carpets and seats, use glass cleaner on the interior windows, apply Armor All or other protectant to plastics, and clean or replace the floor mats.

Pay special attention to the carpets, since road salt dissolved in slush can easily soak into the carpet fibers, causing stains and eventually holes; use a rented steam cleaner or rug spray to remove the salt from your carpets. Lastly, if your vehicle has a touch screen, clean it with a microfiber cloth.

Now that we’re transitioning to the spring season, it’s time to check your tires. First, if you still have snow tires on the vehicle, get them switched out as soon as you can; snow tires are made out of much softer rubber than regular tires, and will wear out in just a few months of spring and summer driving. If you’ve been driving on all-season tires, have they been wearing evenly? If they look like more tread has worn off on the inside, outside, or center, they probably need to be rotated. You should also check the pressure – if you open the driver door and look inside the door frame on the right side, you’ll see a sticker that tells you how many PSI (pounds per square inch) of air pressure should be in the front and rear tires. You can check the pressure with an inexpensive tire gauge at home, use the built-in gauge found in many service station air compressors, or bring your vehicle to us and we’ll check your tire pressure for free.

It’s also a good time to check your vehicle’s fluids. At least check windshield washer, coolant, and oil; some cars will allow you to easily check brake fluid and transmission fluid as well. Top off any fluid levels that may be low. If you have any questions, message us on Facebook or call us at (716) 662-2127.
