Funny how life and our automotive friends cross paths. Dave and Courtenay Keister met the family at Laguna Seca last week. Dave Keister Racing the Porsche the Pesch family met them in the pits. Kevin Kev Pe mom Nadine and dad Christof Pe and daughter Anna. They are from Germany and live close to the Nurburing race track. Kevin’s favorite of course. Family visiting the USA. Courtenay gave them our destination address to visit. So rad! We got to tour and talk about cars and racing. Naturally we did funny stuff. Much love from us and the guys! Sunday funday, last day of the BAILEIGH Baileigh Industrial sheet metal class. From the professors to apprentices everybody had knowledge to share a smart tips. First day of the BAILEIGH metal shaping class at Mackey's Hot Rods, Inc. in HB. We spent time with all our bros and learned some great tips / tricks from everyone. Nick Cologero Nick Cologero did an awesome instruction of a Cobra scoop fab. In 45 minutes banged out a real@time piece, not finished but technique infused. Nick is impressive! Bobby Walden Walden Hammerworks ran the power hammer and did a roof insert. As always Bobby tells great experience story’s and how that guided him in this industry and hobby. Shane Henderson the BAILEIGH man put it all together, so good to see him and Tammy! Great peeps! Thanks to Baileigh Industrial for this opportunity for all of us to learn and meet people from our industry. I met Christian from 🔹🔶STAY IN YOUR LANE🔶🔹 and what a cool dude too. Oh yeah, my bro Mike Wagner from Mike Wagner is on point for tomorrow exhibiting some fine shaping skills. Rad day, more to come. Farewell to a great friend. John Mello, the lobster man we met years ago on Catalina. We became fast friends and had many adventures / fun times together. He was many things in life, husband, father, grandfather, friend. A waterman that fished, diver and also a true blue hot rodder / drag racer. Check out Rodders Journal with an article about him and his chopped 48 Anglia, Hilborn injected SBC….. wheels up and crossed up off the line!….. he even took it across the border and raced it in TJ. Nikki and I spent time at the house in Catalina, he took us all over the island on a personal tour. His red 40 Ford coupe always accompanied by his “road dog” Noodles. Thanks to Caylee, Brent, Dan and all the family for hosting his celebration of life….. naturally on the island at the boat yard. Frank brought his 33 roadster with John’s picture behind the wheel. Great speech too as well the kids. 🙏….. God Speed John! Thanks for our friendship and experiences……. We miss you. 😘 Nikki Scott Falschlehner

Shine Team welcomes our newest craftsman Todd “Dammit Todd” Crumbaker Damn it todd Getting settled in and working on Ken Munich’s 914 Porsche. Going Outlaw Porsche style and fabricating an oil cooler ducting system that mimics Porsche spot welded construction. Tin “slip sleeve” through the chin to scoop cool air, heavily louvered floor piece to prevent unwanted road debris. 1300 CFM Spal pusher fan should do the trick!….. dig it! August 15 2006…… 20 years ago today. The Thacker and Shine team set our record at Bonneville. Two run average of 206.454 on an existing 203 record. D/BSTR. Car originally built by Kiwi Steve then Tony and I rebuilt it, upgraded a few times and went faster. That day I was inducted into the Bonneville 200 MPH CLUB by no other one but the man Art Chrisman. I couldn’t speak, too emotional. Bonneville is the place I read about in Hot Rod magazine as a kid, never thought I’d get to drive / race on that hallowed ground of my heroes. Dreams come true!….. if you pursue it with passion. Big thanks to Tony Thacker Tony Thacker my partner in crime, Ernie Ladner my father in law and crew chief. Penny Ladner Big Jim Jim Muhic Josh Shaw Joshua Shaw 🇺🇸 Mike Whitney, my pop Denny Falschlehner, John Beck John Beck Dave Freston David Freston who bravely ball honed the burned aluminum piston from the cylinder wall after we went lean and smoked a slug on our first run.
