🏇You don't always have to fit the mold to be a great horseplayer.
Horse racing handicappers are often thought of as older men with years of experience, plenty of time to study the races, and the money to spend a day at the track.
But here at Horsemen's Park, we have a 31-year-old who is proving that you can be a serious horseplayer while juggling a different kind of busy life.
Meet Andrew McIntosh.
Andrew has placed in every handicapping contest we've held this year-including an incredible second place finish in our NHC contest, earning a trip to Las Vegas and a seat in the National Horseplayers Championship. 🎰🏇
But Andrew's connection to Horsemen's Park goes way back.
Before we became a casino, Horsemen's Park was open to all ages-and Andrew grew up here. He spent plenty of time at the track with his parents and their friends, surrounded by people who knew a thing or two about handicapping horses.
So we have to wonder...
Did Andrew soak up all that horseracing wisdom while he was growing up? 🙋‍♂️🏇
It certainly looks like he did!
And today,Andrew is married, works a full-time job and is the father of a five-month-old baby.
So, yes, Andrew is pretty busy.😂
But somehow, between work, family and fatherhood, he's still finds the time to handicap horses-and he's been pretty darn good at it.
We love seeing someone who grew up at Horsemen's Park now making his mark here.
From watching the old pros to becoming one himself...Andrew's story is pretty special.
Congratulations, Andrew! We can't wait to see what you do in Vegas! 🏇👏🏻

Edited! Obituary and services info in comments.
Our hearts go out to the family of Bob Murray who passed away Sunday at the age of 97.
Bob was a longtime teller and supervisor at Aksarben and our information window person here at Horsemen's Park.
He was a retired OPS teacher and coach and loved to garden in his spare time. His flowers and vegetables won many blue ribbons at the county fairs.
Rest in peace, Bob, you will be missed!

🏇 The 2026 Nebraska horse racing season concludes this weekend with 3 days of Atokad.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday all have planned activities, including a hat contest Monday.
Four races each day beginning at 1:30 pm. # atokad

💍Yesterday was a very special day for our beautiful server, Korine!🍾
Korine said "I do" to her love Jake and they began a new chapter in their lives together! ❤️
We couldn't be happier for these two and wish them many years of happiness! ‼️

Huge congratulations go out to our winners yesterday!
Alan Linderman (not shown) of Legacy Downs at WarHorse Casino Lincoln and Andrew McIntosh, playing here in Omaha both won seats in next March's National Horseplayers Championship. They also won travel vouchers, rooms during the contest and cash!
