🚨 THIS IS ABOUT SAFETY. THIS IS ABOUT RESPECT. THIS IS ABOUT TROY. 🚨
House Bill 282 — known to many of us as Troy’s Law — has once again been assigned to the House Transportation Committee.
Last year, it never even received a vote.
This year, we are asking — respectfully, professionally, and from the heart for that to change.
Chairman John Blanton, we are asking you to allow this bill to move forward.
Let’s be very clear ⬇️
❌ This is NOT about wreck chasing
❌ This is NOT about abusing emergency lighting
❌ This is NOT about driving around with blue lights
✅ This is about rear-facing blue lights ONLY
✅ Used ONLY while stopped
✅ At an accident scene or while loading a vehicle on the shoulder inches away from moving traffic .
Not while driving.‼️
Not while responding.‼️
Not while traveling to a call.‼️
Only when we are already parked — exposed — inches from live traffic, trying to do our jobs and make it home alive.
Distracted driving is out of control.
Phones. Screens. Speed. Impatience.
Every layer of visibility matters.
This bill costs taxpayers NOTHING. 0%
No grants. No funding. No budget impact.
We are simply asking for permission to add a couple of blue lights alongside amber lights to help drivers slow down and move over.
That small change could save a life.
Troy didn’t get that chance.
He was killed doing his job.
Killed for no reason.
And there was no justice for his death.
We don’t care what the bill is called.
Call it anything you want.
But everyone in the blue-collar towing industry will know why it passed.
Because of Troy.
We are not “highway janitors.”
We are not disposable.
We are the ones you call at 2:00 a.m.
The ones you call during rush hour on New Circle Road.
The ones keeping Kentucky moving when everything else has stopped.
💢We work.
💢We vote.
💢We pay taxes.
💢We do our part.
This bill reflects today’s reality, not the roads of 30 years ago.
This is a real plea from real people who are tired of funerals in our industry .
👉 PLEASE CALL. PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE SPEAK UP. ☎️ 1-800-372-7181
Ask the House Transportation Committee to support HB 282 and allow it to be voted on.
Let Troy’s death mean something.
This matters.
