Will diesel come back down in Oklahoma City this year?

The honest answer depends on one thing: whether the Strait of Hormuz reopens.

Three scenarios through December:
→ Best case: $3.80
→ Middle case: $4.60 (basically sideways from today)
→ Worst case: $5.85

Even in the best case, diesel doesn't return to February's $3.30.

Today is Garrett Wilcox's last day with OKC Fleet Services.

Garrett joined us as a service writer in September 2025, and the success we've had since has a lot to do with him. His way with customers is something you can't teach.

Garrett, thanks for the work you put in and the relationships you built here. Best of luck to you and Tiffany on what's next.

Memorial Day is Monday, so consider this an early one.

This week on The Ed Mylett Show, I heard my fellow St. Louisan say something that's stuck with me. He wasn't talking about Memorial Day — but it's hard not to hear it that way.

Every week I ask customers the same question: how's business?

They tell me the answer in a feel — busy, slow, picking up. So I built a column that answers it with data.

Today's verdict: SOFT ↗ — soft now, but the forward signals say a turn is coming. 10 years of OKC's economy in the image.

Roadcheck wrapped Thursday. By the time the dust settles next week, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will publish the numbers — how many trucks got pulled out of service, how many drivers got cited, the top violations. Historically about 1 in 5 trucks inspected gets put out of service.

Here's the thing nobody talks about: the next inspection on your truck won't be announced. There's no 3-day window, no scheduled blitz, no advance email. It's whichever Tuesday a Department of Transportation officer pulls into a scale or sets up a roadside check.

The fleets that don't get hurt by random inspections aren't the ones that prep for Roadcheck. They're the ones that stay ready every week. Brake adjusters checked, lights verified, tires above tread limits, paperwork clean.

That's the work we do at OKC Fleet Services. Same caliber as the dealer, faster turnaround, and we're not going to disappear into a two-week parts queue when you need a truck back this week.

If your fleet had a rough Roadcheck — or you got through it but only barely — let's talk before the next surprise inspection.

The 2026 International Roadcheck kicks off Tuesday and runs through Thursday — 72 straight hours of Department of Transportation inspectors working the scales and pulling trucks at random across Oklahoma and the rest of the country.

If you run a fleet, you already know the drill: brakes, tires, lights, load securement, paperwork. Last year inspectors put thousands of trucks out of service nationwide, and the single biggest reason was brake adjustment.

Here's the thing — getting through Roadcheck week isn't really the goal. The goal is running a fleet that would pass any random inspection any week of the year. That's the work we do at OKC Fleet Services. Same caliber of work as the dealer, without the two-week wait for a bay.

If you've got a truck you're not 100% sure on before Tuesday morning, give us a call. We'll get you in.

Two years ago this month, OKC Fleet Services opened its doors with a simple idea: build a diesel repair shop that does things the right way.

Two years later, we've grown to a team of 11, moved into a full shop at 3712 NE 104th St, and earned the trust of commercial fleets across the OKC metro. We got here by keeping one promise — fix it right the first time. No shortcuts. No runaround. Just honest work from experienced diesel techs who take pride in what they do.
What we do:

- Preventive maintenance & DOT inspections
- Engine, brake, suspension & drivetrain repair
- Diesel emissions & aftertreatment service
- Trailer repair
- In-shop and mobile service — we come to your yard

We work on Class 5–8 trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and diesel pusher RVs. If your fleet keeps the OKC metro moving, we're your shop.

Thank you to every customer who trusted us with their equipment and every technician who helped us build something we're proud of. Year three — let's go.

At 6:12 AM this morning, a driver called his boss and said the words every fleet manager hates to hear:
“Truck won’t start.”

Load was hot. Delivery window tight. Customer already texting.

That one dead truck?
It doesn’t just sit there.
It bleeds money.
Missed deliveries.
Angry clients.
Stressed dispatchers.
Drivers losing hours.

We see it every week.
Here’s what most people don’t realize:
Breakdowns rarely “just happen.”
They whisper before they scream.
A soft misfire.
A slow crank.
A small coolant smell.
A driver saying, “It’s probably fine.”
It’s usually not fine.

At OKC Fleet Services, we don’t just fix trucks.
We keep heavy-duty and medium-duty fleets moving before they become towed trucks.
Real diagnostics.
Real inspections.
No guessing. No bandaids.
Because trucks down?
Not for long.

If you manage a fleet in the OKC metro and you’re tired of reactive repairs, let’s talk about a proactive plan.
Your drivers have routes to run.

We’ll handle the rest.
