This starcraft came to us needing a restoration and wanting to be fully protected so this didn't need to happen again. We sanded this beauty down to completely remove all the oxidation permanently then coated it with our System X Ceramic Protection Max on all interior and exterior gelcoat and coated all the seats with interior for that super soft protection and making this easy to clean in the future. We also water proofed the cover so it won't absorb that daily rain we get in FL anymore! 🤜🤛

Today is an informative lesson. The picture on the left is how this boat came to us. The picture on the right is how we let the boat leave. These curly Q marks are called Pigtails and are caused by sanding. Sanding is something we do on a daily basis but it has to be done the right way. Which we will explain later. But first let's explain what causes them.

Common causes of Pigtails

➡️ Hook material on Hook & Loop pads pushing through sanding film
➡️ Excessively worn sanding disks
➡️ Sanding on an angle
➡️ Foreign Material on sanding disk
➡️ Undercured Paint

How to Avoid Pigtails

➡️ Ensure surface is clean
➡️ Clean sanding disk often
➡️ Use Interface pad
➡️ Avoid sanding on an angle
➡️ Use Fresh Sanding disks

Came out to Clermont today for a wash and 3 year coating on this Beautiful Hyundai Kona. For our wash and coat service we clay bar the surface to be sure it is super slick and free of contaminants then we prep the surface to the ceramics have the proper surface to adhere to. It was coated in our System X Ceramic Protection Crystal

We brought this '23 Axis back to life yesterday with our Polish and Coat package! Slight oxidation started to build up on exterior so we removed that, then polished the whole boat inside and out, cleaned the water bags to get the mildew growing on them off, and coated in in our spray ceramic so it has 6 months of protection from the elements! Thanks for the hospitality to the staff at The Cove in Clermont!

Oxidation Restoration!

We absolutely love results like this!

Oxidation is a chemical reaction from the sun and gelcoat in boats. When not properly protected it starts out making your gelcoat hazy and gets bad until it becomes so chalky it comes off when you run your hands over it.

To properly remove you need to sand through the layers of oxidation to get down to fresh gelcoat that way your boat can have its gloss back! If you just "buff" it you are only taking off the top layer of this oxidation and it comes back within a year. This is why you are best to leave this in the hands of professionals.

This Searay received our Oxidation Restoration package which estimates are needed for this so we can see how many steps are needed for sanding to achieve the results you as a customer are looking for.

We wetsanded this whole boat, compounded and polished. Then protected it with our System X Ceramic Protection Renew which is our introductory level to ceramic coatings. This is a 6 month spray ceramic in the marine environment.

Fish guts, blood, mold, scratches you name it this 22' Robalo had it!

We were told the seats were going to be replaced because of how bad the mold issue was which was going to take months to replace. But after we showed our customer our abilities to remove the mold and protect the seats our customer booked our services! This boat received our Wash and Coat package. In it we power washed and scrubbed all the deck, cleaned and protected the seats, and power washed the whole boat down top to bottom, and removed all the staining from the tree droppings, before coating it in our System X Ceramic Protection Renew to give this boat protection from the elements and uv damage!

We had the pleasure of being back in our favorite area to work at Marker 1 Marina (343 Causeway Blvd, Dunedin, FL) to restore this 24' pursuit it received our Polish and Coat package to restore its gloss followed up with our System X Ceramic Protection Renew applied to all smooth gelcoat to give it 6 months of protection from the elements and UV Rays. Seats were cleaned and Coated with System X - Ceramic Coating Interior. Then All of the compartments, ropes, bumpers, and seats were treated with Xanigo Marine to prevent mold from growing and keep this beauty in great shape!
