Propeller removal on a Catalina sailboat.
The propeller was painted, so the extent of the past corrosion damage was not visible.
I began servicing this boat 3 months ago (so it's not my fault 😆).
This propeller has major dezincification from years of past corrosion, most likely because the shaft anode was not maintained properly.
No worries, without having to haul out, Daily Divers Boat Service will swap this prop in water and the owners will be back on their way to Catalina like nothing ever happened. 👍

"Barnacle Scraper" is not an accurate description for a hull diver.
Yes, there are barnacles, but there are also a multitude of other organisms which will foul boat hulls year round, regardless of the season.
During summer months, there is a proliferation of Sargassum, Bryozoans such as Watersipora (I call them paint erasers because if you don't scrape them off first, just a wipe will leave the Watersipora attached to the hull, but will remove all the surrounding hull paint), Sea Squirts, Sponge Bob's 😆, and many others...
After a hull service, new marine growth can be noticeable even 24 hours after the cleaning. Analog knot meters can become fouled and rendered non-operational after as little as 7-10 days.
