First step in winterization: fuel stabilizer. There are a few brands out there (we're using Stable 360 today), and ratios vary — always check your specific bottle's label before dumping it in.

One tip most people don't know: add your stabilizer before your LAST ride of the season, not after you've already parked it — that way it actually circulates through your fuel system while you're still riding.

Two boats, two standard covers, same result — water pooled, covers tore, boats left exposed all winter. This is why we always recommend shrink wrap instead. It's heat-sealed tight to the boat's shape, so there's no sagging, no pooling, and no gaps for water or wind to get through all season. Don't gamble on a tarp this winter.

This time of year, we get this question a lot: do you need to run antifreeze through your PWC for winterization? Yes — we run one gallon of pink antifreeze through every PWC that comes in, whether it's stored inside, outside, or shrink-wrapped. It's cheap insurance against a cracked block, exhaust, or intercooler come spring — a repair that costs a whole lot more than the antifreeze itself. Ever skipped winterizing and regretted it? Checked the lower unit oil on this pontoon boat's outboard during service — this is what came out. 100% water, no oil at all. Water in your lower unit usually means a bad seal letting water in, and if it's not caught, it leads to internal corrosion and gear damage over time. This is exactly why we check this on every service, even when that's not what you came in for.
