❤️ A Little Reminder That There Are Still Truly Good People in This World ❤️

Yesterday, something happened at our shop that truly touched my heart, and I just had to share it.

Around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, just 30 minutes before closing, an elderly woman arrived at Walt’s Brake & More on a AAA tow truck. Her tire had completely come apart, and we had another tire on the way so we could get her safely back on the road.

A young man came in with her. I didn’t think much of it—I assumed he was her son, grandson, friend, or another relative.

While everyone was working to get her taken care of before we closed, the young man quietly came up to my window and whispered,

“Can I pay for this?”

I told him, “Of course.”

He explained that he needed to leave to get to work. He handed me his card, paid for her tire, and left. No fanfare. No recognition. He didn’t even tell the woman what he had done.

A few minutes later, I asked her, “Was that young man related to you?”

Her answer stopped me in my tracks.

“No. I never met him before today.”

She told me she had been sitting on the side of the road for two hours, and no one had stopped to help her—until this young man did.

He stopped to make sure she was okay.
He stayed with her while she waited for the AAA tow truck.
He gave her a ride to our shop.
He waited with her while we worked on getting her tire taken care of.

And then, before leaving for work, he quietly paid for her tire.

When we handed her the keys and told her there was nothing to pay because this young man had already taken care of it, she was incredibly thankful—and I think all of us were a little emotional. ❤️

Now I want to make sure this young man gets the recognition he deserves.

His name is Sam Schulze, and he works for Marion County Fire Rescue. 🚒❤️

So, if you know Sam, please give him a big ATTABOY and let him know that what he did yesterday did not go unnoticed.

Sam, you were raised right. ❤️

You helped a complete stranger when no one else stopped. You stayed with her, made sure she was safe, got her where she needed to go, and then quietly paid for her tire without expecting anything in return.

Marion County Fire Rescue—you all have a GREAT young man working for you! I hope his boss sees this because an employee who shows this kind of character and compassion when he isn't even on the clock deserves some recognition...and maybe even a raise! 😉👏

In a world where we hear so much about what's wrong, Sam reminded all of us yesterday about what's RIGHT.

Kindness still exists. Good people still exist. And sometimes, one person's actions can restore your faith in people.

Way to go, Sam. 👏❤️🚒
