New from The NPD Collection!
This stunning Hugger Orange ’69 Camaro RS Z/28 was originally sold new in Ontario, Canada. The second owner caused some engine damage in 1974, and the car sat parked until 1988. Between 1988-1990, under new ownership, the Z received a “frame-on” restoration, still in Canada. Fortunately, the original 302 was not irreparably hurt, and the original driveline remained with the car.
Purchased by Ocala, FL resident Bill Duncan in December of 1991, Duncan embarked on a complete “frame-off” re-restoration of the car, confirming originality of all aspects, including correct numbers and date codes for all accessories, components, options and driveline.
The Camaro is unusually loaded with options (especially for a Z/28), with documentation provided by GM of Canada. A laundry list of option codes were checked in the special-order of this Z/28, including 4.10 Posi rear end, power steering and front disc brakes, 8-track 4-speaker stereo, U46 lamp monitoring system, rear blower-type defroster, and more, making this a rare, very high-optioned Z/28, with rock-solid documentation.
Years ago, NPD owner Rick Schmidt saw Bill Duncan at a show, asked him how his Z/28 was doing, and politely requested that should Bill ever part with it, he’d would love to have an opportunity to buy it. Unfortunately, Bill passed away in September, but had made certain to instruct his wife Rhea to call Rick and give him first opportunity. Fortunately, a deal was struck, and the Z/28 can remain in Ocala, which is what Bill wanted.
