It's been a tough call trying to figure out life these days with increasing prices of everything; taxes, insurance, rent, and so forth. Unfortunately, on January 1st, 2024, my hourly rate will be going to $130.00 an hour, but as normal, I will continue to have no markup on parts. After getting out of the hospital Tuesday night till now realizing the work I've missed for the last 3 days put me so far behind on work and bills I just can not continue at $100 an hour anymore. I'll be working 20-hour days just to make sure I am able to cover all my bills to operate my shop, and I don't want to do that anymore. I want to be able to take a day or two off and enjoy life. If there is a problem with this, let me know. I'll completely understand and even try to help you find a mechanic that is cheaper. From the research my wife's done, it sounds like I'm still cheaper than any legitimate shop within 20 miles. And I mean legitimate as in an actual LLC registered with the state and federal government. I do respect all the people trying to make their own way and working out of their homes because many people know that's where I started, not bad-mouthing anybody or anything like that. It's just insane when I hear a guy 2 miles up the road from me is making double what I'm making and he's working out of his garage at home with no insurance or anything to protect anybody. We all start somewhere. I'm hoping to find a full-time employee here soon to help relieve some of the pressure of operating my shop that I've been under for the last 15 years. And from here everybody have a good weekend and enjoy every day you have.
