Transmission Tuning

It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.
Stop the torque converter madness!!

Get a professional tuning that will put years of life on your transmission. If your 6 or 8 speed Chevrolet, GMC truck, SUV or car is out of warranty, do yourself and your pocket book a favor and get in tune, with HP tuners.

GM’s 6L80E, 6L90E, 8L90E, 6T70E, 6T40E, all have torque converters that work way too hard. Your transmission control module was programmed from the factory to apply the torque converter after every shift! It puts way too much stress on the torque converter, which already is its primary cause of failure. When the converter fails, it’s too late for a repair. The metal from the converter wears out the pressure regulator valve in the stator/ pump assembly. Symptoms may include a shuttering. It feels as if you’re driving over rumble strips. That’s the torque converter slipping. Other symptoms include erratic, shifting and slipping during shifts. And I can’t help you when those symptoms are already present.
And with the cost of rebuilding these transmissions running between $3,800-$4,800, tuning your transmission is money well spent. Getting tuned is the single most valuable thing you can do to prolong the life of your transmission.

What will I do for you?

Obviously, the first thing is to eliminate the converter apply in every gear except 5th and 6th on the 6 speeds and 7th and 8th on the eight speeds.
A couple of other things that I can do is delete Displacement On Demand, (DOD). This will keep all cylinders running for optimum performance. These converters struggle when the engine is running on half of cylinders. Deleting DOD will help make the truck run smoother at moderate speeds and not make that converter work so hard to stay applied.
I will also bump up the pressure in the apply circuit. Ensuring you get optimal pressure to apply each clutch pack without sacrificing performance. Because less time slipping is always a good thing.
