🏍️ WOW... What an incredible day! 🏍️
It's been a couple of days since our very first Motorcycle Show & Shine at Dreamworks Collision Center, and I've finally had some time to reflect on just how amazing it was.
When Burt and I first tossed around the idea of hosting a motorcycle gathering at Dreamworks, I honestly had no idea what to expect. My original goal? Maybe 20-30 bikes. After all, our painter and neighbor Mark owns nine motorcycles himself, so that seemed reasonable!
As our Facebook posts started gaining traction, I noticed more and more people marking themselves as "Interested" or "Going." That's when I thought, "Wow, maybe we'll get 50 bikes!" I would have been absolutely thrilled with 50.
Then Sunday happened.
EIGHTY-TWO motorcycles rolled into Dreamworks.
82! 🤯
To say I was blown away would be an understatement.
Since neither Dreamworks Collision Center nor ABATE District 20 had hosted a Motorcycle Show & Shine before, I really didn't know what to expect. In fact, I haven't even been riding that long myself, and I had only attended my first bike show a few weeks ago at the CMA Bike Blessing.
What made Sunday so special was the variety. We had everything from Harleys to Ninjas, daily riders to custom show bikes, classics to brand-new motorcycles that weren't even licensed yet. The parking lot was filled with incredible machines and even better people.
Most importantly, it felt like a community.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who helped turn this little idea into reality.
First, thank you to my dad, Burt, ABATE District 20 Coordinator, for bringing the idea to the district and helping make it happen. Thank you to all of the ABATE members and coordinators who volunteered their time. From parking bikes and cars to running the 50/50 raffle, membership table, and food stand, none of this would have been possible without you.
A huge thank you to Jim Potratz from Jim's I-29 for donating his time preparing the delicious pulled pork. Let's be honest—that $5 lunch was one of the best deals around!
Thank you to my Dreamworks Collision Center family—Mark, Jason, Ethan, Burt, Caleb, and Bev—for spending your day off supporting the event and bringing out your bikes.
And of course, thank you to my husband Chad. I come up with some pretty wild ideas, and he's always willing to jump in and help make them happen. When I said, "Hey, we should put on a motorcycle show with ABATE," he simply said, "Sounds fun. Let's do it."
Most importantly, thank YOU.
Whether you arrived on a motorcycle, on the back of one, or in a car, truck, or minivan, this event was a success because you showed up. Your support, enthusiasm, and love of riding made this first-ever ABATE District 20 Motorcycle Show & Shine at Dreamworks Collision Center something truly special.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
