THROWBACK THURSDAY: From Carburetors to Computers

Vehicles have come a LONG way over the years, especially when it comes to how fuel gets to where it needs to be.

🚗 The Good Old Days: Carburetors relied on mechanical systems to mix air and fuel. They got the job done, but keeping everything just right could be a challenge.

🔧 The Fuel Injection Era: Electronic fuel injection brought more precision to fuel delivery along with better fuel economy and smoother engine performance.

🚙 Modern Technology: These days, a lot of vehicles use Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI). This means fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber for improved efficiency and performance.
BUT, newer technology brings new maintenance considerations. Some GDI engines are prone to carbon buildup on the intake valves, which can affect how your engine runs.

🔧 TECHNICAL TUESDAY: Reading a trouble code is NOT a diagnosis!

When your check engine light comes on, plugging in a scan tool is typically the first step.

The code stored in your vehicles computer tells which system noticed an issue (which is important!) BUT it doesn’t tell us exactly what's wrong.

For example, a code pointing to a sensor doesn’t just mean the sensor is bad. The actual problem could be wiring, a vacuum leak, another component affecting the system, or something mechanical.

That’s where advanced diagnostics come in. Our certified technicians use the information from the vehicles computer along with testing, live data and good old-fashioned troubleshooting to figure out why a code was sent before recommending a repair.

Think of the trouble code as a clue and think of us as the detectives. 🕵️ The scanner points us in the right direction. The technician finds the actual problem.

Fun Fact Friday! Your A/C can help clear a foggy windshield—even when you have the heat on. 🤯

The A/C removes moisture from the air while the heat warms the glass. So if your windshield fogs up, try the front defrost setting and leave the A/C on.

It's Fun Fact Friday!

Here's a little trick you might not know.

If you're ever driving a vehicle you're not familiar with and can't remember which side the fuel door is on, there's no need to lean out the window or take a guess at the gas pump.

The small arrow next to your gas gauge points to the side of the vehicle where you'll find the fuel door.

This tiny detail that can save you from having to circle around to the other side of the pump. 😅

We took a little break from the regular shop routine today for a little team building.

Tasty food, friendly competition, and some hidden paper airplane skills!

It was fun to get everyone together, switch things up, and work as a team outside of the usual day to day in the shop. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with the crew!
