Cool Tool Thursday. πŸ› οΈ

Yeah, it looks like a regular 4-inch grinder β€” but this is a shrinking disc, and it does something completely different.

A grinder removes material. This doesn't. It runs over the surface, finds the high spots, and heats them. Quench with water or air, and the metal actually shrinks back flat.

Found another use for it too β€” when there's a bunch of small highs across a panel, this thing planishes and flattens them all out in one pass. Creates a clean, flat surface on raw metal like nothing else.

That's today's cool tool. The shrinking disc. πŸ‘Š

The Jaguar is back. πŸ”§

We took a few weeks off from this one, but we're back at it β€” finishing up the interior pieces that were completely rusted out. Some of them had to be fabricated from scratch just to get the floor section in properly.

It's a process, but we're locked in and moving forward. Stay tuned β€” we'll keep you posted as this one comes together.

πŸ”‹ Did you know we run a full battery condition report on every vehicle that comes through our doors?

Before we even begin the repair process, we hook up a battery maintainer to ensure steady voltage β€” so when we pre-scan your car, we're getting the most accurate reading possible.

Here's what that means for you:

βœ… A battery diagnostic is run when your car comes in
βœ… Another one is run when your car leaves
βœ… Both reports are saved directly in your file

This gives us a complete picture of your battery's health throughout the entire repair β€” and if we spot a problem, we'll let you know before it becomes your problem.

With the heat picking up, batteries take a serious beating. The last thing we want is for you to walk out with a fully repaired car… and get stuck in a parking lot. 🌑️

That's just one more way we go above and beyond at 821 Collision. πŸ’ͺ🏽

🚨 This tiny sensor inside your door is part of your SRS system β€” it's what tells your side curtain airbag to deploy during a collision.

If the shop fixing your car doesn't understand it, your airbag might not fire when you need it most.

A car that looks fixed and a car that is fixed are two very different things. At 821 Collision, we know the difference. πŸ™

A lot of you were asking whether the side panels on this C8 actually needed to come off β€” and the answer is yes. Here's why.

The adhesives used on these panels aren't all the same. You've got urethane β€” the same stuff used to bond a windshield β€” mixed with plastic adhesive, and it changes as you move down the panel. There's no way to properly clean, prep, and re-adhere those surfaces without fully removing the panels.

Could someone sneak under there and skip the step? Maybe. But you cannot get this repair done correctly without taking them off, cleaning them, and doing the job the right way.

General Motors procedure calls for it. We follow the procedure. Every time. πŸ”§

The part everyone's been asking about. πŸ‘€

This is the rear frame rail on the C8 β€” a 6000-series aluminum extrusion, and those holes you see drilled into it? They're not random. They're engineered weak points, designed to collapse in exactly the right spot to absorb impact and protect the occupants β€” keeping the damage from traveling further into the structure.

This is next-level engineering. And to even purchase this part, you have to be GM-certified specifically for the C8. Never mind installing it.

More breakdowns on construction materials and build details coming soon. πŸ”§

She's finally inside… and she's naked. πŸ‘€

Get your mind out of the gutter β€” we're talking about this stunning C8 Corvette, and she's been worth the wait. Parts are in, she's fully stripped down, and today we start putting her back together. πŸ”§

This build has been a journey, and we're just getting to the good part. Stay tuned β€” there's a lot more coming on this project. πŸš—πŸ’¨

The Jaguar restoration is coming along πŸ”§πŸ†

The rear is fully welded up and complete β€” big milestone on this build. The owner brought back one of the doors from the sandblaster, but here's the challenge: some of these pieces are getting vaporized in the blasting process, so we're using the original as a template to recreate and fabricate the damaged sections from scratch before welding them back in.

Once those pieces are made and blasted, we'll set the intermediate panel and then the front bonnet. Patience and precision on this one.

We're taking a short break from this build, but stay tuned β€” there's a lot more to come. πŸ‘€

Your Ford lease could be voided if the wrong glass is installed after a collision. πŸ‘€

We were pulling procedures on this Explorer and found it in Ford's Q4 2025 position statement β€” under the Red Carpet Lease Agreement, ALL collision repairs must use genuine OEM Ford parts. Aftermarket glass? That could be a breach of your lease.

If you're a Ford lease customer, make sure your shop knows this before they touch your car.

πŸš—πŸ’¨ Tire Matching Matters (Especially on AWD)

When you replace tires, don’t guessβ€”check your owner’s manual or service info for the allowable differences in tire size/wear. Replacing only some tires can exceed the limit and damage the transmission/drive unit.

βœ… Verify what’s required before you installβ€”so you don’t create a bigger problem.
