Seeing flashing lights behind you can be stressful, but staying calm and knowing what to do helps keep everyone safe.

Remember these simple steps:
✔️ Stay calm.
✔️ Signal your intention.
✔️ Move to the right when it's safe.
✔️ Stop if required until the emergency vehicle has passed.

Every second matters when first responders are on their way to help someone in need. By giving them the space they need, you're doing your part to keep our roads safe.

🚗 RPM Instructor Tip: 4-Way Stop Basics

Four-way stops can be confusing when you're a new driver, but once you know the rules, they become much easier to navigate.

Here are a few things to remember:

🛑 The first vehicle to come to a complete stop is the first vehicle to go.

🤝 If two vehicles stop at the same time, the driver on the right has the right-of-way.

👀 If you're ever unsure, don't guess. Make eye contact with the other driver and be sure it's your turn before you go.

The goal isn't to get through the intersection first—it's to get through it safely.

❤️ Take your time. Don't rush the intersection.

🚗 RPM Instructor Tip: Give Yourself Room to React

One of the easiest ways to become a safer driver is by giving yourself enough space between you and the vehicle ahead.

Here's a simple trick to remember:

💡 When the vehicle in front of you passes a fixed object (like a light pole), start counting:

One Mississippi...
Two Mississippi...
Three Mississippi...

If you reach that same object before you finish counting, you're following too closely.

Leaving more space gives you more time to:
✅ React to sudden stops
✅ Brake safely
✅ Stay in control of your vehicle

A few extra seconds can make a big difference.
