New truck for Town of Leicester Fire Department . Squad 1 was brought in for a full Whelen light package. Using Whelen Cencom Core lighting/siren controller allows for a TON of functionality in the programming. Utilizing this technology provides the ability for light pattern changes based off of certain events. Events such as night time use vs daytime use, whether the truck is in drive or park, or if extra scene lighting is needed to provide the extra visibility in dark conditions. Whelen’s technology with their DVI (dynamic variable intensity) patterns create a safe and bright warning package while not blinding oncoming drivers approaching the scene.
For the lighting package. On the roof is the Whelen Liberty II DUO lightbar. In the grille is 4 Whelen Ion DUO’s with a pair of Whelen LINV2 down on the fog light bezel providing a 180 degree spread for forward intersection warning. On the running boards are Whelen T-Ion’s also in a red/white configuration. With red and white hide-a-way LEDs in the tail lights and a pair of Whelen strip lite plus lights (also red/white) under the tail gate to bring in the full 360 degree light package. For added reverse/scene lighting we added a pair of Baja Designs S2 lights.
The console is a Havis 30” long 12.5” wide vehicle specific console. Mounted in the console we have their radio as well as the Cencom Core control head. With some added power outlets to keep any electronics charged and ready to use when needed.
Mounted to the console is a pair of Nightstick flashlights. These are permanently mounted and they charged off of an ignition circuit so they will be ready to use when needed but won’t drain down the vehicles battery when charging.
In the video you’ll see the difference between day/night response and park patterns as well as the ability for full “scene mode “ if needed.
