One of Kentucky's most stunning summer events at one of its most stunning places...the Lavender Festival at the Kentucky Castle is about as magical as it gets in the Bluegrass State, and kicks off in two short months Set against wide rolling farmland, this event lets you walk right through rows of blooming lavender while the air fills with that soft, sweet scent. You can clip your own bundles to take home, sip on cold lavender lemonade, and grab treats like lavender shortbread cookies as you wander.

A busy outdoor market lines the grounds with local vendors selling handmade goods, while food trucks keep things going with plenty to eat throughout the day. Live music plays across the property, adding to the laid-back feel, and you’ll also find hands-on workshops and farm talks that cover gardening tips, cooking ideas, and simple ways to use lavender at home. The castle itself adds to the experience, with its tall stone towers, open halls, and quiet courtyard sitting in the middle of more than 100 acres of Bluegrass land. The festival takes place June 26–28, 2026 at the Kentucky Castle in Versailles, KY.

Kentucky's "Life in the 1800's" Road Trip takes you to 12 historic places where you can see what life was like in the Bluegrass State during the late 1700s and throughout the 1800s. One stop is My Old Kentucky Home State Park, where you can walk through a large historic house filled with original-style furniture and learn about everyday life in early Kentucky. At Fort Boonesborough State Park, you’ll step inside a rebuilt frontier fort that once helped protect early settlers along the Kentucky River. Old Bardstown Colonial Village lets you explore log cabins from the 1700s and watch a blacksmith at work. At Perryville Battlefield, you’ll walk the grounds of Kentucky’s largest Civil War battle. The trip also includes two famous old country stores, Rabbit Hash General Store and Penn’s Store, where history and small-town charm are still very much alive.
