I’ve been chasing fuel level precision with my Behind Bars Race Cars tank and testing different fuel senders to get it dialed in.
First, I ran an OEM-style Fox Body sender—decent, but not precise enough. Then I tried a KUS 6.5” stainless reed-style sender. Solid build, but it read in steps (not variable ohms), which limited accuracy. KUS offers a variable ohm version, but it’s a 3+ month wait from China, which is not ideal.
Now I’m running a custom ISSPRO sender, rated for E85 with a true variable ohm output and an enclosed float to prevent false readings from fuel slosh. The best part? **ISSPRO built and delivered this custom sender in just two weeks, and it’s MADE IN THE USA 🇺🇸. Huge win.
Most important lesson: Run your sensor ground wire directly to the ECU. I originally grounded it to the chassis and sent the signal wire to the dash. After wiring both directly to my Holley ECU, I saw a big jump in accuracy. Grounding to the sensor ground made a huge difference in my setup!
