GATHERING OF EAGLES. In 1987, Car and Driver Magazine proposed a 100-mile street (road trip) competition between seven cars. Coming in 2nd place was Michael Burroughs' Camaro, which bested a Porsche 911 Turbo, Corvette, Mercedes and a Ferrari/Chevrolet GTO.

Clocking a top speed of 216 mph (on the test track/oval before the road trip portion), the KB-powered Camaro, 3 speed automatic transmission, 541 ci engine, and producing 700 hp at 6000 rpm, made a very respectable showing indeed!!

WITH DREW SWEETMAN PUTTING SOME HEAT IN THE TIRES, the SWEETMAN BROTHERS Nostalgia Funny Car runs a supercharged, alcohol-burning Keith Black® 526 ci Hemi. Match racing in the mid-1980's, the team put the car away until 2004, when Nostalgia Funny Cars became popular. From Elkton, MD, Owner Henry Sweetman, Crew Chief Dannie Sweetman, along with Henry Sweetman, has a best ET of 7.11 @ 190 mph--fast enough to keep the crowds entertained.

Love the old-school look!

THE HAWAIIAN, TOP FUEL DRAGSTER, with his Keith Black® engine, owner Roland Leong and driver Don "the Snake" Prudhomme were a force to contend with. And how did the Hawaiian get it's name (besides the fact that Roland was from Hawaii)? "When Joe Anderson was painting the car, he asked me, ‘Well, what are you going to name it?’ I said I don’t know, so he said, ‘Well, you’re from Hawaii; why not call it the Hawaiian?’ So I said okay and that was that."

We are sure you agree with us--the Hawaiian was one of the great --the Hawaiian was one of the great ones!
