Crazy to think that just 2 years ago today, this is what me and Happy Hens & Highlands Farm LLC were doing. Searching for any personal belongings we could recover. We all handle grief differently and this was a way for me to deal with my emotions.

Worn out and thankful today. Didn’t sleep a wink but thankfully it was uneventful. We got some nice breaks which I know made a big difference. We’re just now getting the strong winds they predicted. But it’s nothing we’re not used to all winter long. The 6am alarm was still so triggering after Helene. But I have a heart of gratitude today. Thank you Lord for your protection

After Helene, a storm in the forecast carries a weight it never used to. The anxiety is real, and the memories come rushing back.

But this morning, a rainbow appeared—a gentle reminder of the hope we have in God, even when fear feels heavy. 🌈

We can’t control what’s coming, but we can stay diligent, prepare, and take care of one another. We’re constantly monitoring the weather alongside Avery County Emergency Management, and we promise to keep everyone informed as conditions and forecasts change.

We’re preparing for extreme winds and praying that rainfall totals stay low. Please stay weather aware and take time to prepare, too.

Faith doesn’t mean we aren’t afraid. Sometimes it means making preparations with shaky hands and praying through every step. 🤍

I LOVE antiques. I’m obsessed with them. We had so many in our shipping container and sadly most didn’t make it. But this butter churner made it and we needed to finally get her cleaned up!
