If you’ve ever stopped by our shop, you probably already know — we enjoy collecting unique cars of all kinds. 🚗 🛻 🚘

Last year, we came across this beautiful wooden toy truck at a local antique store, Antiques 'n Things off Elk Park Highway in Newland, right before they closed.

The truck is signed Ernest Franklin of Newland, NC, and we would love to learn more about the person who created it.

If anyone recognizes the name, knows Ernest Franklin, or is connected to his family, we’d love to let them know that we have this wonderful truck and are proudly displaying it in our shop.

We had a wonderful time this week at the Avery County Chamber of Commerce After-Hours event — and we even won a raffle basket! It was a great evening connecting with local business owners and making new friends in our community.

🦪 Oyster Roast Fundraiser at Holston Presbytery Camp & Retreat Center on March 14!

Bring your friends, enjoy great food, and help support Holston Center’s mission & scholarship program. Whether you’re here for the oysters or the chili, we’d love to have you join us for a fun and meaningful day on the mountain!

🎟 Oyster Tickets:
$40 per ticket
Each ticket includes one peck of oysters
Tickets must be purchased by March 7

Not an oyster fan? No problem! Chef Chandler will be serving up his famous brisket chili, along with cornbread, sweet tea, lemonade, and desserts. Donations are accepted for chili and sides, while oyster tickets must be purchased in advance.

The team will make the overnight trip to the coast Friday so they can pick up fresh oysters early Saturday morning and drive them straight to Banner Elk. Once they arrive, we’ll get them steamed and ready to enjoy right here at Holston Center.
