That's a wrap on August, Newark — and what a month it's been. Between back-to-school routines and welcoming a fresh wave of Blue Hens to campus, it's been busy in the best way, and we're grateful to everyone who trusted us with their vehicle this month, whether it was a quick brake check or a full pre-semester inspection. As September rolls in, the days will start getting shorter and cooler weather isn't far behind — a good reminder to start thinking about fall maintenance like heater checks and battery testing before the first cold snap catches anyone off guard. Newark feels different this week — more energy on Main Street, longer lines at the coffee shop, and a college town fully waking back up. Welcome back to everyone who's just arrived, and welcome back to the Blue Hens who've called this town home before. Whether you're a parent heading home after move-in or a student settling into a new semester, we want you to know Dempsey's has been part of this community since 1986, and we'll be here all year for anything your car needs — oil changes, unexpected noises, or just an honest second opinion. This is it, Newark — move-in weekend for the University of Delaware. Around campus this weekend, you'll see packed cars, proud parents, and a whole new class of Blue Hens getting settled in. As a UD grad myself (Class of 2012), this weekend always brings back memories of my own move-in day, and it's one of our favorite times of year to be part of this community. If you're driving in from out of town and something doesn't feel quite right with the car, we're happy to take a look — no appointment necessary if it's urgent. If your Blue Hen's car hasn't had a once-over yet, there's still time — and honestly, this week is exactly when we'd want to catch anything before it becomes a problem three states away. Our pre-semester inspection covers tires, brakes, fluids, and battery health, and we'll send a clear report right to your phone so you can see exactly what we see. As a UD alum myself, I know how much is already on the to-do list this week — let us take the car off it. We can usually get you in quickly, even with short notice, so don't hesitate to call.
