A Detroit Diesel Series 60 14L came in with a severe misfire.
The ECM was replaced after injection problems were suspected. When we opened it, it was packed with water and rust.
The new ECM helped a little — but the misfire was still there. No fault codes. No injector codes. Just a straightforward misfire.
That’s when experience takes over.
A few targeted tests later, we found a shorted injector. We replaced it and the engine is now running strong and healthy.

Both camshafts are getting replaced on this Cummins ISX CM871 ! Unfortunately, this customer didn’t stay up to date with the overhead adjustment maintenance, and it wore out his camshafts and rockers. Costly mistake!
Make sure to stay on top of your OVERHEAD ADJUSTMENT! It’s due every 100-150k miles. This will help avoid excessive valve wear, valve tap, compression issues, and premature wear on other components.

Quick little behind-the-scenes look at an electrical repair. A customer came in with an electrical issue — the truck wouldn’t start. Road service checked the truck and told the customer he needed to replace his CPC. He towed it to our shop, where we found another issue! We got it corrected, and the truck is back on the road.
It’s very important that the diagnosis is done correctly! We make sure every unit is fixed right and back on the road as fast as possible.
