When India’s helicopters turned into flying elephants! 🐘🚁

These unusual aircraft were Indian Air Force Alouette III helicopters, known in India as the HAL Chetak. During the 1970s, helicopters from No. 116 Helicopter Unit were covered with colorful fabric decorations, complete with elephant ears, tusks, legs, and a trunk.

They were created for ceremonial and Republic Day displays—not combat. Pilots flew slowly and carefully because the fabric decorations could become dangerous around the rotors.

🚨 A routine ground operation turned into a serious accident at Scottsdale Airport.

On January 21, 2026, Piper PA-28-181 Pilot 100i N505AF was involved in a ground accident at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona.
The aircraft moved unexpectedly during engine start and struck parked vehicles.
