We had a great beginning to our ride on the Ohio to Erie Trail today. We crossed the Ohio River from Bellevue KY on the Purple People Bridge and rode down to the rivers edge on the Ohio side where we dipped our tires. We then headed north on the Ohio River trail heading toward the Luke Airport Loop Trail and then the Little Miami River and the Little Miami Scenic Trail. We meandered north through Loveland and Morrow toward Oregonia. It was a great 50 mile ride today with only minor issues along the way. We had some challenging areas but because of our practice rides they were easily handled. We do have to keep in mind that we have heavy bikes and a mishap can mean big injuries. Cincinnati had some nice public areas, but City streets aren't fun. We felt a little cooked by the heat after 90 minutes passing through the city even before noon. As we moved to the Little Miami Scenic Trail things definitely cooled down a bit but as it was the weekend, we had a lot of people out on the trails walking and riding and having fun family times. From 4 pm until we stopped just after 5 pm the trail was almost ours alone. It was a beautiful day and while it was very hot we were very comfortable moving along at 10-12 mph. Tonight we have a lovely Airbnb tonight right next to the river and all the comforts of home. Looking forward to day 2.
