[9-2-26 ] Every brand seems to be coming out with their own take on the Passenger Screen these days, and us journalists frequently sigh at their irrelevance. Why? Most passengers will be interacting with their phone, tablet, or some other personal device more often. And now there’s some industry data to prove it. JD Power’s recent tech survey sampled nearly 70,000 vehicle owners of 2026 or newer models over 40 different car tech features. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The data found that 35% of owners never used it at all, 6% saying they use it frequently. Additionally, JD power noted 21.3 problems per 100 vehicles with passenger displays. This stat is very high compared to Smart Key ignition, which rated 2.4 problems per 100 vehicles. Overall, Cadillac, Genesis and BMW earned the top 3 points for vehicle tech among premium brands while Hyundai GMC and Kia topped the mainstream brands for user experiences.
