Not my usual Post, and no I dont do cars anymore 🤣

PAINT CORRECTION & DETAIL,,, Back in the day 2010 "Goodtimes" 😉

Just going through old pictures,,, "Memory Lane" 😀
I worked on this car in 2009 or 2010 if my memory is correct. This vehicle belongs and is still owned by Ernie or "Ernesto" as we called him at the shop.
So Ernie buys this car, has engine work done, 9" inch rear, built trans and has Bobby from Rave Autobody do some work on it, but Mike from MIPA Paints shoots the clear on it, and there was a lot of material, if anyone knows how much clear Harley Davidson applies and how the edges of the fenders have that clearcoat roll or rounded edge cause they laid it on thick, well this Grand National had more clearcoat than that. Back to the story, Bob from RAVE Autobody hits me up and says Augie I can't get this clear to shine, can you help me out, I said ofcourse, so Mike from MIPA Paints assured me there was a lot of clear on there, feel free to buff on it and dig if I have to. Needless to say I did this in Ernies Machine Shop, no fancy equipment, bad lighting,,, guess you can say Johnny Sr from Sierra Automotive & Autobody taught me well. Had to wetsand a few things, but I did a 3 stage buff/polish on this during work hours at Ernies Machine Shop,,, like I said no Fancy equipment, just at the tike I was using Menzerna or possibly 3M Perfect It 3000 ,,, either way the car came out as it should, Ernie paid me off, Bobby from RAVE Autobody said thank You and Mike from MIPA Paints was impressed to say the least. Everyone went home happy,,, sorry for the crappy quality pics in 2009.
I started in the Automotive field learning from some of the best in the area, Johnny Sierra Sr teaching me Autobody (Autobody Technician) the oldschool way, making me earn it then taught me the easy new age way lol and Johnny Sierra Jr on the Atomotive Technician side ! Fast forward to 9 years ago Adam Hassel from Big A's Custom paint teaching me further in the fields of Custom Painting, pinstriping, goldleaf/veragated leaf and much more. To say I was blessed to be taught by elite members in this line of work is an understatement,,, Thank You Brothers for the expert tutelage, thank you all !

BASIC DETAIL &1-YEAR CERAMIC COATING

Here we have a 105th Anniversary Edition Harley Davidson Heritage Softail, That came in for a BASIC DETAIL, the 1-YEAR CERAMIC COATING was courtesy, the customer was awesome to work with

Also this machine is FOR SALE PRIVATELY, inquire with me and I will put you in contact with the owner. This 105th Anniversay Heritage Softail only has just over 3000 miles, and is not molested, stock exhaust, stock intake, check the video out and it speaks for itself !

So the bike comes in, I get it on my lift to get a better look at it ! It looked like it was stored some place out of the elements but was just neglected a little. Ofcourse the spokes needed my attention, the chrome throughout the rest of the machine was fine !

So I start tearing the bike down, saddlebags off, seat off, tank dash is left on, I only strip the bike down completely if we're doing a full Paint Correction, Detail and Coating (Ceramic/Graphene). Anyways I get the saddlebags off and condition them with a conditioner that has black dye in it to rejuvenate the leather saddlebags. I also went over the metal beads on the saddlebags to polish those out and reconditioned them, they were weathered to say the least ! Also cleaned the back side of the saddlebags and put those off to the side. I also reconditioned the rider/passenger seat and cleaned the underside,,, I know you dont see it but nothing goes out of this department unless its been cleaned, conditioned and protected. So I out the two piece rider/passenger seat off to the side,,, Now to start rocking out on thus machine, lets get into it. You all know spokes are not my favorite thing to work on but so worth it when you see the end results !

So I start off on the spoked wheels/rims,,, hands hurting after I was done with the front and rear spoked wheels/rims but for the most part they came back. There is some permanent damage but not as bad as you would think, ofcourse I see everything but to the regular person they look really good and barely noticed what I seen, either way im very honest with my customers and let the owner know ! The hubs are the hardest to remedy, hard to get your hands in there but we made it happen !

Now to move on to the rest of the bike.,,, i always work on the wheels and chrome throughout the bike first. Being we weren't doing Paint Correction on it it was time to wash, rinse and dry this machine hine.

The chrome looks great, the paint condition is really good I mean only has just over 3000 Mike's and its a 2008. It wasnt ridden much but was put away from the elements outside.

So I apply S-100 Engine Brightener to all the textured parts of the engine and drivetrain and the underseat area where the Battery is and fuses/relays etc,,, I really like this S-100 Engine Brightener cause it not only conditions the textured parts of the engine & drivetrain but its extremely hydrophobic. Also makes the textured parts of the engine & drivetrain look rejuvenated, almost like putting lotion on dry skin. You'll see in the pictures and videos how good this product works, a little pricey but so worth it !

Now i do a final wipedown of all the chrome and chassis throughout the bike. I tood the customer is would apply a 1-Year Ceramic Coating out of courtesy. I usually won't do a Coating without doing Paint Correction, actually i won't but this customer was really cool to deal with.

So I go over the clearcoat/paint with prep-spray and lay a single layer of Ceramic Coating ! Let the bike cure for a couple hours before I reassemble it.

I put the saddlebags back on, the rider/passenger seat back on, windshield back on, the bike is back together completely! This machine turned out well, would be better if we did a full Paint Correction and Detail but the owner can't ride anymore and is looking to sell this machine, so if you're in the market for a nice unmolested Anniversary Edition Harley Davidson "Heritage Softail" this one's a Beauty,,, Inquire with me and I will get you in contact with the owner.

I do a final wipedown, bike turned out really good, the chrome came back, the spiked wheels/rims look good, sent pictures to the owner and he us more than happy with the end results.

This is a Job I did a few years ago, probably one of my favorite paint schemes besides "White Carls" Bobber Panhead also known as the "Shoe Mans Pan" which is will leave the link in the description incase inquiring minds wanna know about "White Carls" Bobber PanHead ! Anyways so this gentleman brings me this machine that he bought already done up as you see it from Daytona Harley or I guess its called "Destination Harley" I don't know, ive never been down there, anyways i remember him saying he paid a lot of money for this machine and wanted it to look like when he bought it and to have protection (Ceramic coating) applied so it will not only be protected but look like new for years to come if properly maintenance is taken to do so !

Im not going to do a long write up but just give a back story on it, You All know what I do, and the steps taken to really clean, Detail and protect your Harley Davidson Motorcycles so lets skip that and let me find the link to "White Carls" Bobber which is probably my favorite bike to work on !

Til then ask yourself,,, "Are You Getting What You Paid For" its a serious question cause I know Hack detailers and detailing shops that will detail a full dresser Harley Davidson for $100 bucks,,, but i can assure you it doesnt come out like my Details/Paint Correction 😉 Im not cheap but You get what You paid for and I back my work up and also keep an open line of communication to answer any questions or concerns you may have !

So without further ado,,, check this video out and looks at that paint job,,, Harley Davidson has beautiful paint and their paint process is the best in the industry BOTTOM LINE !!! Ill argue/debate anyone on that subject,,, but its nice to see quality Custom Paint Work every once in a while. 🇺🇲SETTING THE STANDARD IN MOTORCYCLE DETAILING🇺🇲

Here's a good example of what PAINT CORRECTION is,,, Using various Compounds & Polishes and in more severe cases You may have to Wetsand or as its called to some Color Sanding. Either way the goal is to remove any swirls, scratches, imperfections in the clearcoat and level it out to the point it is smooth as glass !

In doing so the clearcoat is in its most organic state no protection on top of it, just the protection thats chemically made into the clearcoat which is minimal but better than nothing hence why Ceramic or Graphene Coatings are pinnacle above wax, hybrid wax, synthetic wax and the common detail spray which come in all variations, some are infused with Si02, Graphite Oxide (Graphene), a combination of both like MAXL-ONE which they say cokes with Triphene,,, hate to tell you there's no such thing as "Triphene" its all part of marketing on there part. We can get into that another day !

So while the clearcoat/paint is in its most organic state that is the best time to put whatever protection you want, me personally as an autobody technician and professional detailer in will always opt for a Coating, wether its Ceramic or Graphene both are superior options compared to your broad range of Wax's on the market, organic, hybrid or synthetic.

Coatings advertised to last from 1 year up to I've seen 10 years IF ITS PROPERLY MAINTAINED,,, yes, there's maintenance involved when you invest the money it cost to have these COATINGS (Ceramic/Graphene) applied to your Motorcycle or Vehicle ! Topper sprays extend the life of the Coating which is part of the maintenance. Anyone or any Detail shop that says you don't need to do anything is full of S**T !!! I have no issues telling an owner or detailer that to their face, don't fall for that bu****it, there's maintenance and instructions to be followed if you wanna get the most out of your Ceramic/Graphene Coating !

This is not a cheap investment,,, it takes time, preperation and skill to get the results i put out ! I won't apply a Ceramic/Graphene Coating unless i Paint Correct the clearcoat ! Dont fall for the detail shops thats just going to clay bars your car, slap a low quality Coating on and send you out the door and before you know it your out $2000 and the ship you got the work done by is out of business !

If you're Clearcoat/Paint is not PAINT CORRECTED you're wasting your money,,, anyways detailer or Detail shop owner wanna argue that fact PLEASE step right on up, I love giving an education or exposing the "Hacks" in this industry.

It is very expensive but the end results are pinnacle ! Not only do you get your Machine back looking better than it did from Factory, it is protected for years to come. Now you ask why I say better than it came from factory ? Cause the factory didn't level the clearcoat/paint like i did ! In doing so the finish is smooth like glass and mirror like ! Dont fall for the claybar, decon and Coating trick, not only is it short term but you're wasting your time, ripping the customer off and making Detailers in the industry look like "Hacks" !

My work is proven, ask the motorcycle community,,, i can sit here and preach, ask around, I'm come with receipts, I have before and after pictures and videos. Im not only a Detailer, I've been in the Autobody and Automotive industry since I was a teenager. Im a Technician by trade but fell in love with Detailing ! The Transformations, the customers expressions when they see their Harley Davidson go from neglected to show bike status !

Are my services cheap or inexpensive ? Absolutely Not ! I will not waterproof my services down and if you have a guy who will do it cheaper cause lets face it Everyone has a guy,,, go ahead, im ok with that but I will guarantee you this, nobody is going to the extent I go to give you the results im giving out there ! I'd be happy to take on any challenge from any detailer in the area, I know paint, I know chrome, I know surfaces and surface prepping specializing in Harley Davidson Motorcycles ! Please pass this post around cause I'm not going to lie its not challenging to me anymore and lets face it my competition in the area is not impressive honestly,,, there's a few shops that I respect and love their work but for the most part theres a lot of shysters and Hacks and theyre the ones who make the professionals look bad and bring the quality and prices down in the industry but People will People, can't fix stupid.

VIDEO END RESULTS,,,

Here we have an Icon Collection bike that I worked on a few years ago. This bike was a little tedious cause of the Denim/Matte Paint on the bottom of the gas tank,,, obviously that can't be Paint Corrected or needless to say Buffed/Polished on cause it will lose that Denim/Matte looking sheen it has !

So I get this bike in and on my lift after it had some Mufflers put on and some other accessories the owner wanted put on but for the most part its stock and this one will be a keeper so its in his collection to ride once in a while!

So I get the bike in and as most of you know I won't do any kind of Coating (Ceramic/Graphene) without doing Paint Correction, whether its mild or full on Paint Correction is will always run a pad over the clearcoat/paint to take that top layer off of oxidation, old wax, grease, environmental fallout etc,,, when it comes to Coating (Ceramic/Graphene) proper adhesion is key to a Coating lasting its time or more if maintained properly but we will get to that later on !

So the bike is on my lift, I take it apart, saddlebags off, seat off, side covers off, seat screw reciever out of the fender, tank dash off ! Now we're ready to get into it !

First I start with the first wash, rinse and dry ! After that I started on all the chrome throughout the bike first the chrome spoked wheels then I move on to the rest of the bike ! Once im done with the chrome i do the second wash, rinse and dry !

Now its time to adress the clearcoat/paint ! First I tape off the Denim/Matte painted part of the tank ! Im only going to buff/polish the clearcoat/paint ! So I start from the front, work my way back. Then I work on the saddlebags and side covers have those ready.

Now its time for the third wash, rinse and dry so I can get all the compound and polish residue off, wash the whole bike top to bottom, hit the chassis in all the vulnerable spots. Now we are ready to go over all the painted parts that will be Ceramic Coated !

Now its tike to apply the S-100 Engine Brightener to all the textured parts of the Engije and drivetrain ! Let it sit for a half hour so it really soak in and wipe off any if the excess. What i love about this product is it is hydrophobic, lastva long tike and makes the textured black parts of the engine & drivetrain look like brand new, almost liie putting lotion on dry skin,,, works very well, highly suggest trying it out !

Now its time to go over the painted parts and parts of the chassis that will be coated with Si02 (Ceramic Coating) with prep-spray! This part is crucial, if not done properly the customer gets ripped off cause the Ceramic Coating will not last the tike you said it will last and it looks bad on my part and my work is top notch, just ask the motorcycle community around my area, I love what I do for work and it shows ! As for the prep-spray I go over the bike twice, and yes i have Ceramic Coating for Denim/Matte/Satin finished paints ! So I hit the Denim/Matte part of the tank with prep-spray to clean off any oil type residue or fallout from the environment!

Now we are ready to start applying the Ceramic Coating ! I start from the front and work my way back. Then denim/Matte finish part of the tank I do last,,, just my preference, you can do the denim/Matte paint first ! I choose to do it this way.

So I apply the first layer, wait two hours and apply the second layer, doesnt require me to do so but to ensure my work. I hood my work to a high standard and nothing leaves unless its 100% done right ! Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed 🤘😎🤘

I wait another two hours then I start putting the tank dash on, seat screw reciever in the rear fender, side covers then I prep-spray the side covers and coat them, then put the saddlebags back on and do the same, prep-spray and coat with Si02, after two hours I lay a second layer of Si02 (Ceramic Coating).

I come in the next dayand do a final wipe down, wipe the chrome down and inspect my work, condition the seat with leather/vinyl conditioner and now im done,,, The bike looks better than new and is protected for years to come !
