Important - Please read entire post:
Moving forward, we will no longer be allowing customers to provide their own parts. We’ve always tried to be accommodating, and for 6 years we’ve allowed this practice, but we can no longer continue it.
There are a lot of reasons, but primarily it comes down to being able to stand behind our work. The quality of parts, across the board, have went down. It’s a numbers game anymore. It isn’t just one distributor or manufacturer. It is literally all of them. When we provide the parts, we are able to provide a warranty on the labor because the manufacturer will pay us to replace one of their faulty parts. We also have a warranty company who certifies our labor when the parts are ours, as a commercial account. If the customer provides the parts, we are unable to offer this same protection.
Just for a recent example: Customer had us install a transmission that they purchased. We installed it, programmed it, (obviously fluid, etc had all been checked) and - bad unit. So now we’re dealing with the manufacturer as a third-party. Since it wasn’t purchased under our name, they won’t reimburse labor charges or programming. So now we have two options: charge the customer twice the labor (after all, we have to do the job twice now) and twice the programming, or we charge them once and eat the remainder.
We still have to pay our employees. We have to pay our own bills. We have to cover fluid and programming. None of this is free.
So yes, while our parts might cost you a little over the “counter” price, you get insurance that the parts are covered.
We know everyone’s trying to save money where they can. We get it. But we simply can no longer afford to keep “eating” these costs. Maybe someday, if manufacturing improves, we can go back but for the foreseeable future, this will be our policy.
Thank you for understanding and continuing to support us.
Also, as a note, this will not affect previously scheduled appointments or any of our fleet agreements.
