Sports Car Club of America National Championship Runoffs photo dump is here!
After a week of careful reflection, we got hosed...again. This may be a controversial opinion but let me explain...
In FA, we had a great car. Definitely a car capable of winning if the race had continued under green for the full 13 laps. But, as much as I hate to say it....this was typical SCCA racing for the classes in our group. There were more cars broke, spun, or crashed on the first two laps than you should ever have in a national championship race. That's test day stuff. We had a mechanical on Monday that left James dead stick so we know what's up, but by race day that stuff should be sorted. That's why we are there for a week!
Is it too much to ask to have a championship race go the distance in our group? It shouldn't be!
We got hosed unfortunately by being stuck with Prototype and Prototype 2. Again.
FA is a national class and although it may not have 30 cars in the field, it deserves its own race. Just as all the national classes deserve. If you have 5 starters, you have a race. End of story.
We come to race and we want to see good hard and clean racing for the full race distance! Besides Formula Race Promotions, this is the only place we can play with the Swift. And at FRP...we more often then not go the full race distance without a double yellow.
So, let's be better in Atlanta in 27. Let's put on a better show for the fans and let the drivers get a chance to get the damn tires warm before someone decides to up end the race! We'll do our part and make sure it's not us!
Now, congratulations to all the winners last weekend!
I have so much respect for Mike, Dudley, and the team at KHill, and for John, Mirl, and the guys at Arms Up. I feel like all of us work super hard to be at the front and it always seems to be us battling for the wins. I know they will show up with some rockets in ATL...and we'll show up with one too!
Thank you to Paul Abel for the photos. Thank you to James French for wheeling. And thank you to Forty 48 Competition for making that little 014 as fast as it is!
Thank you to our partners on this car, Waldo Machine and Design, Haltech, Elan Power Products, PAGID Racing, Brembo, Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies, and Carbliss.
Wounds licked, tires kicked, now.... let's rip!!!!
F48 for life.
