It's all in the details. Well here's some investigative work, and knowledge I can pass on.
If your wheel looks like this, and it's just 1, or the fronts, chances are you need a brake job.
Metal on metal brakes produce metal filings. Those filings are hot! They will embed into your wheel, permanently leaving there mark behind. But, detailing aside, bad brakes is a terrible thing. Other causes could be pads that just make alot of dust. (Like cop cars. They'll stop on a dime and give you a nickel back, but not win a beauty contest)
When I notice things like this, I look at other things. You'll notice there are new disc behind this wheel, and I saw new hardware on the pads, meaning recently changed. I did confirm with owner that they in fact had new brakes. (You can see all the iron turning purple, and brake dust on tire)
Other things that go along with this is wiper blades. If I see bad wiper blades, I'll let you, the customer know. In many states if you have an accident, and your wipers are bad, you are at fault. I can even get wiper blades delivered, and instal them. For just the cost of the blades.
When cleaning an engine, the same rules apply for leaks. Oil, brake fluid (it'll eat part off) antifreeze. And a clean engine helps you identify leaks ect.
To date, we here at Louie's have found...
1) leaking brake lines
2) bad wipers
3) bad brakes
4) dry rotted tires
5) coolant leaks
6) needing new tires because they were close to bald/unevenly worn with wires showing.
It may not be good news to hear these things, but it's news that can save you, or your loved ones lives.
