The Hill International Race Recap 6/5/26 Sponsored by Pipher's Diner: The S & S Custom Autobody, Inc. #2 IMCA Modified goes for the first time in 2026.
The night fired off with us starting P3 in the first heat. We grabbed the lead on lap 2 and a caution followed. After the restart, I got back to the throttle a little too hard in turn 3 and spun on the bottom of the track avoiding any collision. Restarted tail and worked back to take the lead with 2 to go, bringing us in for a heat win. The third of the season, so far.
Handicapping had us set P4 starting position for the feature. After the drop of the green, we were able to get up to 2nd before the first caution. On the restart, we had great drive off allowing us to take the lead in turns 1 & 2. While a few more cautions followed, we maintained the lead with a strong charge from Keith Lamphere and Jake Maynard right on our bumper. We brought the #2 car under the checkers first and got our picture taken for the first time in 2026.
I want to thank Roger Hoyt and Steve Williams for all you do. We would not be where we are without you. I also want to thank Keith Lamphere and Jake Maynard last night especially for the amount of respect and clean, hard racing you've shown me. I am honored to share the track, and occasionally make it to the checkers before you. We have a great group of Close Racing Supply IMCA modified drivers, overall, to race with no matter where we go. Thank you to my wife, Miranda and our boys for the sacrifices made to make this happen as well. They know all-to-well how much time and dedication it takes to be in racing, let alone, victory lane.
